Code scanning at the dealer

Has anyone done this????

What are your thoughts about this...?

Should I run the codes when looking at a used truck?

I ask this because it might point to a failing VP before I buy the truck and save me a lot of problems and money....

Just to clarify........

I am not speaking of a specific truck. I am just asking a general question.

Would it be O.K. or ethical to run a scanner on a truck that you are (I am ) interested in purchasing, from a dealer or an individual???

I am asking about running the onboard instrument cluster scan or bringing my laptop and scanning the OBDII port.........

Just thought it would let me know of any potential problems...

If they/dealer have a problem with it, then go somewhere else pronto.
