Biodiesel- This irks me to no end

So my 1st gen. 1989 Dodge CTD would run OK? What about the stuck rings problem I heard about? I assume virgin SVO would be better than used oil but I'm still worried about gumming things up. Would diesel cold weather additive prevent engine problems with used oil.
I'm still thinking that the transesterfication wouldn't be all that difficult on a small scale, say 25-50 gal. at a time. Has anyone personally done this?
Pardon all the questions but I really don't want to wreck a good engine and this is the first diesel I've owned and I'm sort of in love with it.

I am most concerned about the transporting of the technology, and the profits fueling the Chinese economy.. It seems they are being very strategic in technical aquistions on a wide front at the moment. They will most likley USE the advantage of a free market society to bring Bio-D into a more viable and profitable business, (this process would take decades in China) Then take their learnings, and leave us in the dust...China has a significant future issue of resource limitations (except people). I feel the USA is in for some significant changes in std of living / wealth.... but, I was also hoping to build a WA state Bio-D plant, but funding is on hold (and it takes a pile...) $3mil minimum, and the regs...

My feeling is the Chinese will most likely come up with a solution to their energy shortage that doesn't involve petroleum long before the US does. They are a very motivated and clever people. They're basically starting from scratch with industry, don't have the petro structure built up like we do and have no domestic oil to speak of.
Quite possibly we'll be buying the technological energy breakthrough of the millennium from them, something we haven't even dreamed of yet, developed by Chinese engineers who went to school in the US.
You see, the Chinese answer to an energy shortage would be to erect giant treadmills and use slave drivers to power them. Or just have widespread nuclear fall-out problems, or perhaps even suck out re-educated souls and use them to power a giant meat-blender! MWAHAHAH!
More likely, the brutally oppressed Chinese people are going to realize that having an incredibly ruthless and cruel absolutist communist government that considers them as a resource is a bad idea and launch the biggest revolution China has ever seen.
At least we can pray so. China's so screwed up it isn't even funny. It's just, ugh, can do, eck, yrk, theg, aijk, yrp, eryltrh, argh...
It's phenomonal how much a billion people can be oppressed without an uprising of some kind. We probably got more CIA over there trying to topple the regime than in the middle east, or we should at least. China, if they don't fix themselves, will cause us very big problems in the future.

I just made my first batch last week, using the Dr. Pepper method. Here it is:
I have not used it yet, as I am still learning about this process, and need to make sure I did everything correctly. I will have no problem running though. I do not foresee any problems with the engine from this, except that it may not run, and I will have to put regular diesel back in it.
I will know enough to be sure of the quality by the time I scale up on production, like this:

www.biodieselgear.com has some sweet processors. Edwin - I highly suggest you look further into brewing your own biodiesel. Even though your truck could possibly run SVO/WVO the time it takes to set up your separate tanks for diesel/svo, heaters ,etc, you should have jus made bio
