bacteria in case loader
bacteria in case loader
My buddy owns a salvage yard and has a CASE W14. the hourmeter has like 23000 hours on it and it stopped working like 10 years ago
. recently it's had the inj pump rebuilt. let me explain what i do know.
the tank has a 1/4 inch rubber line running to an inline filter, then an elextric fuel pump, then a glass bottom (filter?), then the primary filter, then the secondary filter, then to the IP. instead of replacing the first inline filter they take an air gun to it
. i drained the fuel, is there a way to flush the tank without wasting a bunch of expensive fuel? there is a drain plug on the bottom. i also would like to know the best thing to run in the tank to clean everything up after i lfush it out... i have diesel kleen, any other suggestions?

You need to use an algaecide made for diesel. This will kill the algae but their dead bodies will still be there to clog the filters up again. Either change the filters frequently till it works itself out or use the electric fuel pump with a hose back into the tank to recirculate the fuel several times while filtering it.
Dont forget to fill it almost full when treating with fuel biocide, algae grows on the tank walls also, if you dont kill all of it it will come back.
Double dose the recommended amount for the first time, then use as directed for continued protection.
If there is a drain plug you can recover the fuel after the treatment and filtering and check to see if it clean enough to reuse. You may have to strain it or filter it longer. Also keep a couple xtra fuel filters handy cause if it really infested it will take a while to come clean.
