Re:B5.9 or Hemi

I know from experience that the piano will go down the stairs and through a wall much faster without any effort from myself.

:'(

I think I could beat that horse hauling the coal...if the money was right.

I know I can beat a Hemi loaded.
In the spring I can and will beat a powered up empty Hemi with my 6 spd. :P :

I want to see that. A blown Hemi puts down 550 rear wheel hp and close to that on torque. And if you find one that is a single cab, shortbed, 2x4. And it weighs maybe 4800lbs. Those power numbers are on only 8psi of intercooled boost and a not so good tune. Tune it better and up the boost to say 10psi, and your looking at probably over 600 rhwp.

Re:B5.9 or Hemi

Are Hemi's available in the regular cab shortbeds?

Hee hee. You guys who want to drag race your diesel trucks remind me of a genetic engineer wanting to make a cow that climbs trees. Not saying it's not a worthwhile pursuit, just one that leave the majority of the population scratching their heads.

Well put. I have to think that if acceleration is the goal, one could get a whole lot more of it per buck by starting with a vehicle with more potential.

Re:B5.9 or Hemi

I prefer lots of torque that is safe for towing heavy loads.
I also prefer to have the ability to stop the load safely.
Having said that...the stuff I am doing to this truck can and will make it fast empty...as fast or faster then that Hemi supercharged...I'm not far off already...more testing and R&D will do it.
8 psi on a supercharger is plenty. Much more and there can be problems...it can lose its function fast.

I think part of the fun for people is to do it with a diesel pickup.

I'm not doubting you making it fast. Lord knows you can do it. I'm just saying a blown Hemi will put up quite a fight. I wonder what a twin turboed Hemi would do?

Re:B5.9 or Hemi

I'd wonder about all that power being used on the gasser as a daily driver. The picture comparing connecting rods of the diesels has been posted frequently. Has anybody seen a comparison of the Cummins to small block or even big block rods? It's one thing when that truck is hauling itself down the track, but all that power going to a stock engine pulling a load? I'd be worrying about something giving. I know gassers pull proffessionally, but they build them and tear them down just like any other race car.
