You guys know more about these trucks than I do so I humbly ask for your wisdom.
I was eyeing this beautiful '97:

I am in over my head with my '04. I can get rid of it now, hopefully recoup some of what I have in performance by offloading my Edge, AFE, and DTT parts. I owe $33,000 (upside down) on my '04 and could have a '97 paid off within a year, even with the negative equity.
Tell me everything you know about the 12 valve. I know they are reliable, how hard to turn them up? 47RE with a triple disc, anything else I need to worry about? It'd be cool if homeloanjoe chimed in, since I'm kinda talkin' about his truck

there are no programers for a 12v since it is mech. fuel injection. so you have to turn a wrench to get more power. that being said tweeking the pump some (search fuel plate and AFC housing) will give you a BUNCH more power for pretty much free if you do it right.
You can easily get power from them, and they are very reliable, solid trucks. Fix the KDP, and your good to go. I saw that truck last night. Good lookin truck. I say go for it
