General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

nelrod, your description of Dodge owners is a description of open minded vehicle owners and not market brand loyal slaves. There is a lot of true evaluation in you judgement of owners. I owned two Ford gasoline powered 3/4 ton pickups. The first was a good truck except the engine leaked out more engine oil than it used. The other Ford truck was a pile of junk in every respect and had 85k miles on the odometer when I hauled it to the junk dealer. I could not even think of someone else having to put up with that poor quality vehicle, and it weaned me off of Ford forever. I was somewhat disgrunted with Ford from the beginning over the twin-I-beam suspension never staying in alignment. The poor quality in their vehicles killed my interest in Ford, even though I had been looking forward to get a crew cab long box 7.3 diesel. My family rejected Ford and we all like GM except we hate the diesel. I bought a Dodge because of the I-6 diesel engine and have to admit the rest of the Dodge truck is more than OK. Nevertheless, I would not consider another Dodge if the quality suffers. I do not care who makes the product if it gives good service. The best bang for the buck is what I want, but I will pay extra for trouble free products.

HA! If I had a nickel for every customer who bought a brand new car and then griped about something they did`nt like I`d be a gazillionaire. Worse yet are folks who`ll buy a used car...and NOT EVEN test drive it!! Folks are just lazy or something i guess.

Ford is gonna have to open a Starbucks in their service depts to keep the customers happy that buy that new terd !!!! Your $ 45,000 truck with an indestructible diesel engine needs 2 new turbos , injectors ,EGR valve and we have to pull the cab off your new truck to fix it ............... would you care for a Cappucino while you wait ?

My '03 PS (below) was such a disappointment . . . just a ton of problems. I loved that truck . . .except for the multiple oil leaks, coolant leaks, fuel pump that went out, ball joints that needed to be replaced (think the dealer pulled one over on me there), and all of the ECU reprograms . . . . other than that, it ran great!!
