yes, stopping those dozen rigs just completly shuts down our whole supply chain. No oil out of the gulf means no oil from the middle east, canada, Africa, or the North Sea.

Another hurricane means putting our crews up in hotels to wait the storm out. Some of them roughnecks you just can't take to town, they tend to get blinded by the bright lights and lose control.

I work offshore in the Gulf too, and ya'll would be amazed how many times we've plugged a new well that was flowing oil instead of natural gas. Seems it's more profitable to complete a gas well than a oil well. They usually plug and temporarily abandon it and try to sell it to another outfit to complete. That's okay, we still get the our day rate for the rig no matter what they do.

By the way, day rates for jack-ups in the Gulf of Mexico have increased by 40% in the last 6 months. Alot of the rigs in the Gulf are headed for the the Middle East in the next few months. So the day rates will go higher due less rigs and higher demand in the Gulf.

North Sea is seeing a sharp increase in day rates too... We just cant get steel fast enough to build equipment to keep everyone happy... In less than two years we went from sweeping the walls (floors were spotless) to a 6 month back order list.
