I dont wanna sale my truck and go through the hassel of building another truck especially since its only a day and a half drive. Awesome! Well once I get up there we'll have to grab a beer. Are there any diesel shops up in that area?

You will love Alberta then, as there are no emissions. No yearly safety's. You will have to clear bringing your vehicle up with the border guys, and once up here, have to get an Out of Province inspection done, and bring it up to Canadian code. Big thing seems to be Daytime Running Lights.

Only real big issue I know of is modified suspensions are a no-no for importing vehicles. Once its across the line and registered, it doesn't matter. I know Fred (19Fury69) has brought up quite a few vehicles, might want to PM him about the details. I'd imagine it would be the same for someone immigrating with their truck as it would be for us to import a vehicle.

And then there's the issue of returning to the US with it as well.

If you are going to just go to College, why not just run your normal registration?

I do not think you have to import it if you are coming up temporary as a student. I suggest you contact Canada Customs. All you may have to do is provide your enrollment information. On your end you may need to talk to your insurance company and make sure they have coverage for you. They probably do with your regular insurance.

I know when I went south I did not have to change anything with my truck to be down there on a 2 yr program I was in. I just had to provide documentation of my course and I was provided with a TC Class I-94 Permit for the duration of the course.

My Canadian insurance covered me while I was in training same as it would if I was on vacation.
