I'm pretty excited to see what there going to do. I'm sure that motor has the potential to make A LOT of power. Does anyone think they may upgrade the manual transmissions? 7 speeds would be a great improvement.

I wonder how easy that particulate filter can be lost...like a cat?

Will probably require some creative ECM fooling. Have read that the ECM will monitor the filter and let the operator know when service is needed.

I have seen brochures for most Diesel Pushers showing the ISL series engine from the 2006 model years??? I think industrial vs. automotive is the leap that may or may not take place. The industrial ISBE is not like the ISBE in the DC trucks.

According to the .pdf......

Looks like it will have EGR and a VGT Turbo.

I LIKE IT!!!!!!!MORE POWER! I wonder if there going to use powdered metal rods or keep the forged style

chaos24valve 02-02-2006 06:35 PM

but what about all the new emissions standards?! How are we going to Chip and modify them! Thats the only thing that worries me. I want all the power I can get! Lol. There is going to have to be some high tech stuff to fool all the new computers...

You do realize that modifying the electronics on our trucks is illegal already, right?

Benson 02-02-2006 08:21 PM

It will be interesting. There's always the bad with the good. Most changes are brought about to satisfy emissions changes. The new Aisin tranny sounds good though, interested to hear the details. Guess we'll have to wait for a few months for an official announcement.

Don't think I can part with my '04 EGR and Cat free (legally) though.

Put a CX28 automatic transmission on it

shhhhh.... that's a secret. [laugh]

Isn't the 6.7 just a stroked 5.9?? I've seen that in several places. As far as the EGR, VGT and particulate filter goes it's just a fact of life with more power and stricter emission regulations. Cummins has been using a Holset VGT on the bigger engines for awhile. It will really be interesting to see what the output is when/if this engine becomes a reality in a Dodge.

I was doing some looking online last night and it seems those Aisin transmissions have been in just about every vehicle you can think of. Freightliner started offering them in medium duty applications in 1999 including the B series Cummins... Aisin transmissions will be engineered for use with 195 to 230 hp Cummins ISB engines

i can see many many of those particulate filter/cats in peoples sheds and not on their vehicles [laugh]

Smkndzl 02-02-2006 11:39 PM

No , you wont be chucking these particulate filters mufflers , they also have BPR (differential press.)sensor and egt probes on the inlet and outlet of these units and controlled by the ECM , so without them the engine will derate.
