6.2 chevy batteries - help!

after replacing the alternator and batteries i'm somewhat confused as to the battery re-install.

the way i remember it looking there was a line connecting the negative of the driver's side battery to the positive of the passenger side battery. this seems wrong to me, but i dunno the first thing about it so i thought i'd check first.

The batteries are in parallel. Positive to positive and negative to negative. In parallel the voltage will be the same (12v) but the current capacity will double.
Batteries in series, Positive of one battery to the negative on the other will double the voltage (24v).
Unless your 6.2L is a military version and has a 24v system?

i don't know if it's 24v or not. my chiltom manual doesn't really say, or show a battery wiring schematic that i can understand.
