wildcat max

What is the purpose of the wildcat max fuel line upgrade? I am considering buying a new Dodge diesel to tow a fifth wheel, but everything I'm reading on this forum is starting to scare me away. Does the Dodge diesel perform well with the standard fuel lines?

Lone, Are you looking at leaving the truck stock or boosting hp. The stock fuel system is great up to 400 rear wheel hp which is 25 hp more than the clutch in a standard and the Torque Converter in an auto are good for long term. The 05 through 06 have an enhanced fuel lift pump in the tank and larger lines than the 04 and 03 so they are good for maybe 50 hp more. My lift pump was getting a little lazy at 115k miles but I got an aftermarket lift pump because I was sitting on the threshold of hp and sometimes I ran out when I was boosting HP around 375. I've had all diesel pick ups in the last 3 years and I'll stick with a Dodge for its reliability and price. ks

Mostly what you read on these sites are not the norms. Guys are always tinkering with different set ups. A stock Dodge will tow any 5th wheel great.

If I had read this site before buying my truck, I too would never have bought one. My preconceived vision of diesel engines is that they are rock solid reliable, make lots of low-end torque and are very fuel efficient. After nearly 8 years of diesel ownership I still feel the same way, but am constantly astounded at the type of (mostly) self-inflicted problems people have with their vehicles.

Lonestar. It decreaces the friction losses and cavitation of the fuel, however if you intend to keep the truck stock-don't bother. If you intend to
enhance the truck-a must- and do not forget to drill out the filter housing as well...(i went 1/4 npt)

(The weak point of the dodge is fuel pump failing-if ANYTHING buy a fuel pressure gauge, THAT is well spent coffechange)

Wildcat Diesel was the seller of the system developed by Scotty (of Scotty Fuel & Air Systems fame) and is now sold by him as the Scotty Smart Fuel System.
I installed it on my truck and saw an increase of 1 to 1 1/2 psi in fuel pressure across the board.

The increased pressure just helps the pump live a little longer when you start adding power enhancements.
