I disagree. Farm fuel, home heating, diesel passenger vehicle, and over the road trucks are a huge consumer, especially with OTR trucks averaging what.. 7mpg? That's alot of fuel.

I read that the airlines use more jet fuel, which is basically diesel, than all other transportation uses combined.

i think jet fuel is alot different than diesel. You ever notice how when you spill diesel on the side of your truck it just stays there. this because it does not evaporate. Jet fuel will evaporate very quickly, faster then gasoline.

this price gouging is going to turn people away from purchasing more effecient diesel engines. Diesel is roughly 30% more $ than gasoline. You have to have alot more MPG to make up for that difference.

Most all jet fuel is a highly filtered #1 diesel base with different additives depending on the type classification.

>INFIDEL, Your exactly right, jet fuel is mainly just kerosene or #1 diesel, thats what made the jet engine so pleasing for use, the fuel can be made cheaply compared to 110octane airplane gasoline.

And diesel fuel makes up for only about 10% of the fuel consumed buy the U.S., correct me if i'm wrong? there is alot of gas vehicals out-there.

FOR EVERY PENNY GASOLINE GOES DONE THEY ADD THAT ONTO THE DIESEL PRICE HERE IN FARGO> 3.30gallon for diesel, 2.30gallon for 87octane.
Looks like i'll be switching to driving the 4cyl corsica !

I was told the price of diesel is high because it comes from the same piece of the distillation process as kerosene and home heating oil. They are making that stuff now to provide for those uses. The Shell employee told me that it is going to go MUCH higher in the coming months.

I hit $100.69 for a fillup @ $3.30 per gallon yesterday. I was hoping I could hit $100 -- feels so good.

Correction, in Fargo diesel just went to 3.40 and gas just went down to 2.26 , why should it be cheaper to drive a 12mpg gasser than my 20mpg vehical???? there is no reason it should go up in price by 25cents in a matter of hours,

yes heating oil is #1 diesel and the people in the north east still use it to heat with (For what reason is beyond me), and that cause the prices to rise, but diesel is the first thing off of the refining process, it requires less, a lot less refining than gasoline, so hence its cheaper to make, but still they price gouge us! sorry for the rant, just a bit upset.
