Why has gas went down and diesel went up?

A few weeks ago gas and diesel both were around 2.70-2.80$ per gallon. Since then gas has went down to 2.29 and diesel went up to 3.20 stuff like this make me want to take desperate actions. Is travesty taking place elsewhere?

Here gas is 2.45 and diesel is 3.37 I might be forced to pull out 1 of my old gassers if this keeps up for much longer.

it is so stupid when you think about it. Diesel is a by product of making gas, therefor it should be like 50 cents a gallon. I think Big Oil knows that demand for diesel is much higher than it used to be. I say tell the oil co. that the government will by their oil for $10 a barrel if they wont sell it to us we will just go else where. After they lose millions they will beg for our money.

There are more Congressmen & soccer moms driving Gasoline Powered SUVs than Diesel Powered vehicles.

and most commercial diesel powered vehicle drivers can add a fuel surcharge to the shipping invoice

$2.69 gas $3.09 fuel here, but i have noticed that the since the demand is greater for gas, that when the prices jumped after the storms , fuel was way cheaper for a few weeks before it jumped to match gas. now fuel will take a few weeks to fall to match gas. fuel and gas have been dropping here its just that fuel takes longer cuz less ppl use it. it does drop faster at the truckstops than at regular gas stations

$2.68 and $3.40 in West Lafayette, IN. That's right, a seventy cent spread. Farm fuel (non taxed for road use) is $2.97. Farm use fuel that's more expensive than road gas. . . yeesh. I'm guessing there will be a decent drop in November or early December after all the farm machinery quits running across the midwest. I'm using around 150 gallons a day through the combine, tractors, and semis. That all stops cold in November and I'd say there is a good chance the oil companies know that.

EXACTLY!!

The bad thing is that there is absolutely nothing we can do about it.

Here:
Diesel - $3.15
Gas - $2.56

Diesel consumption is a tiny compared to gas so the price is much more volatile. Diesel use in this country is like a flea on the tip of the tail of the gasoline Saint Bernard.

Also, I believe the big gas companies are trying to lessen the impact on the vast majority (gasoline users) by double dinging us on diesel. Gives them something to use to try and keep gas prices tame as possible.

In other words, rob Peter (us) to pay Paul (them).

Righto! as stated in other threads, a "subsidy" of sorts, if you will.
Nice, I really appriecate being OVERCHARGED for my fuel so Soccer Moms can buzz around in their 12MPG Yukons and 10MPG Hummers! I thought everything was going to be just fine because these folks that are buying SUV's aren't really concerned with having to pay an extra $10-20 a week to fill up?

I think the focus here should be on the surcharges that we are all (will be) getting on ALL of our good and srevices now. Again, so 70% of Americans can drive vehicles twice as big as they will ever need??

Ticks me off.

I saw gas at $2.39 and diesel at $2.89 this morning. Gas dropped ~ .20 in the past few days, diesel has been hovering in the $2.89 to $2.95 range for awhile. Hopefully it will stay below $3.00.

I'd kill for $2.89 diesel. I filled up north of Dallas the other day for $3.29 and it cost me $99. It cost my roommate $106 to fill up at the same place. This is just freaking stupid. There's absolutely no excuse for this sort of price difference. And the part that really gets me steamed up is the fact that there ain't a dang thing I can do to change it.

Yeah we're also back down to 2.89 for diesel.

I never paid more than $2.99. When it spiked up to 3.40 or so due to Katrina I had already filled up at ~2.60 and was on a job very close to home, so that tank saw me thru the north of 3 bucks insanity.

By the time I needed to refuel it'd come back down to 2.99.
