What!!!!
What!!!!
Ok heres somthing thats bothering me. july 11th diesel was at 4.65 it stayed that way for till somthing like the 20th then it went to 4.79 for one day the next day it was back at 4.65. then this week it went to 4.49. after 3 count them 3 days of that it went up today to 4.59 gas is 3.59 how is it that with oil falling so much diesel goes up and gas goes down. gas on july 11th gas was at somthing around 4.01. How is this anyone have any idea?
I am finding quite the OPPOSITE here in Calif. We were at 5.25 3 weeks ago, 4.39 today. Has been dropping REAL FAST over the last week. Almost 50 cents in the last week. Regular gas is 4.00 I think today is the first time that Diesel is LESS than Premium gas!!
this article contains a graph that shows how the price of fuel isn't coming down with the price of oil.

when it comes to diesel, station owners in many areas are keeping the price the same as when oil was $25/barrel higher, because they didn't see much of a drop in their diesel sales at those prices, so there's nothing to gain by lowering them. they're lowering their gas prices because they did see a drop in their gas sales, at the higher prices.
because diesel fuel is a necessity to keep the country running, the amount we use stays fairly constant, regardless of the price.

Roperteacher, your prices should be MUCH higher than xzaq103's, due to the fact that your fuel taxes are almost double his.
the whole thing is just another sleazy way the fuel/oil industry can bleed a couple more pennies out of people, even as their costs are dropping.
I agree and am not arguing! LOL The MOST EXPENSIVE place near me has always been the shell station right next door to a huge car dealership! We always laugh as the suckers on fumes have to fuel there, they have Dropped to the LOWEST prices around. Here's hoping that fuel will continue to drop!
there was an NBC report today, that shows nationally we are being over-charged by 15% at the pump. it factored in oil prices, spot prices (the price that the station owners pay), and the price they are charging at the pump. it's amazing that when oil prices were going up, some stations were increasing their prices more than once in the same day, but now that they've decreased dramatically, they can't muster the energy to make the trip up the ladder to lower the price.
