You are right to a certain point, after the air gets soooo cold the engine losses efficiency.

 

I'am not saying our tanks are compatable but at the dilution ratio of 2 oz per ten gallons I don't see how it could affect anything that is fuel or petroleum compatable. I do agree to error on the side of caution though.

 

Maybe when the air is cold, it can't spark very good???

I know a guy locally who swears the intercooler causes a loss of power. He said he took his off and the power went up!!
He also swears his 04 has the new 5 speed auto.

I still think that pulling air out of the engine compartment instead of inside the fender is BS. a couple of degrees pre intercooler temps can't make a measurable difference, BUT reducing the restriction might. A BHAF with big honking ducting would do the same thing.

 

I'm like smokee. I've got a haul to do this weekend, and have the tank full and ready to go with 7 oz. of acetone mixed in with the 35 gallons of diesel fuel.

I always tow very conservatively. I get 13.25 mpg on average with my enclosed trailer. I'll let you know if I see more than that on this tow.

ive done it for the last 3 tanks, about 2100 miles, and even tho im on winter fuel im still above 20 mpg... id say it works...

 

WHat were you getting before you added acetone? I'm real curious what people see for real world improvements.

AND where did you get a metal measuring cup for the acetone?

ANYONE with actual results?

 

I have used it in a couple of tanks and can honestly say I didn't see any improvement. I know the pumps are blending fuel now for cold temps but I am still running straight #2. If any thing I think it lowered my fuel mileage. The same with my car I tryed it in.

 

Well, didn't see anyone saying what they had for real results so . . . gave it a try. . . . HA!

Did it in three cars. 87 nova(toyota) mileage usually ranges from 29 to 32. With acetone, was 29.

89 Honda accord, mileage is normally about 31. Very little variation. With acetone, was 30.

First two cars with carbs. Third car I tried in is a 97 honda accord. Usually get right at 29 mpg. With acetone, was 25. Absolute worst mileage I've ever seen with that car.

isn't Diesel Service Power Kleen about the same as acetone?

it melts most plastics, and will almost strip paint (ask me how i know...)

uh, i spilled it....uh...on the side of the truck....

and it made the paint real nice & tacky & soft. it made a mess,. i cleaned it & waxed it few times, can't tell now, but i was worried.

so i got online and searched, and it had ate thru a plastic container one guy had in his bed, and started to melt his Herculiner. then a lot of guys had chimed in about it melting thru regular plastic.
