Man, this is getting old.
If everyone came together and just stopped going to work cause we couldn't afford the gas to get to work, something might change. If truckers stopped driving for a day or two what impact would that have. The fuel prices are getting way out of hand. Where do we draw the line?
if we didnt go to work it really wouldnt matter. you would have ot get the trucking industry to stop for a day or two to see significant feedback. they use the majority of diesel, not us. when you consider we as consumers probably average around 17 mpg overall, and big rigs get 6-8 mpg. so if you could talk truckers into not going too then we would be set
With the demand for diesel fuel in Europe and Asia being what it is, I dont think a "drive-strike" would have the effect it would have had 5 years ago.
It is a supply and demand issue now, and we arent the biggest consumers of diesel anymore...

I payed 2.43 at the Wal-Mart, Shell and Marithon/Certified are 2.69 or 2.79 in the same town. (Marysville, Oh) Gas on the other hand is creapin closer to the 3.00 mark every day 2.85 curently.
Come on guys quit trying to figure this out without research. We are a free maket society that trades commodities on the open world market, and the price at the pump almost always follows closely with the trade price on the NYME(New York Merchabtile Exchange) assuming normal distribution, advertising, and profit markup. If you don't belive me check this site out every day, and you'll get a better undersanding of how this stuff works.

While I'm glad diesel hasn't been going up as much as regular gas, it is still getting rediculous. $2.779 here for diesel, and regular is $2.849 and creeping up every day. Premium has topped $3
Streetsmoker....you are technically correct about the free market, but with only 5 major oil companies this is a CARTEL not a free market. Also, the biggest problem is the market speculators that "bid up" the price of oil. These "capitiolists" know we will pay whatever the cost and bid against each other to artificially drive up the price of oil. The oil biz is nowhere near a "free market" so I do not oppose a little more regulation for those folks. I am in the commercial A/C business and I have over 300 competitors in San Diego alone. Man I wish I had only 4 other shops to bid against.....
