Canola Oil as an additive?

I was told by another Diesel Princess that she adds 1 gal of canola oil per 100 gal of Diesel #2.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance!

I don't add just straight canola oil.. I have been using a Canola based additive though.. Has improved the engine running and some mileage gains.

Though adding canola oil won't hurt anything it would be cheaper to use a designed for diesel fuel additive. Besides cheaper a diesel additive will have anti-gel, injector cleaning and cetane boost properties that canola doesn't.
In other words more bang for the buck using a diesel fuel additive.

Last couple of tanks I'm running about B15 canola biodiesel (5 gal/ tank). Runs fine w/ a lower cloud point temp than soy Biodiesel. Since it's cold out now (17F tonight), I store it in my "wine cellar" to keep it warm until I put it in my tank for a trip.
