Most of the pumps around here run a 50/50 of #1 and #2, plus I add in the White power service. We just had a -35 morning and it started and ran just fine.

I have used all of the above , like them all , but 2 issues , one is finding what is good , at a good price , then best - is only done with testing , I would have to dig to bring the test of about 20 additives , the best I am still looking for a regular source , I buy by the gal. can not afford to get drums of it .

I used the schaeffer winter additive for my trip up to MN this year (and yes it was very cold for this texan). Unfortunately, I had to use a blow dryer on the new metal external inline filter that was installed when my lift pump went out. Bought a bunch of the PS white container and have had no problems since. Although, I think if I would have used more of the schaeffer I might not have had any problems. (Going back home tomorrow after a two week stay.)

How much of either did you use ? How much fuel ?
I was speaking of the Soyshield , it has anti gel , but the soy-bio is the best for the lube issue , at least as far as the testing goes .

I put roughly; a 1/3 of the bottle, which treats 125 gallons in its entirety, when I was on a full tank. I used a Schaeffer brand soy additive that works either in the fuel or in the oil before. I put a bottle of it in my wife's car and my truck's oil before I switched them to synthetic oil. When my fuel geld up I put enough PS additive to treat about 75 gallons of fuel when I had about 25 gallons in the tank.

I used the 911 because it did gel up. I originally had 20 oz of the white powerservice in but that didn't help that much.

Hence the name 9-1-1.
True....only use 911 in emergencies, It is not an antigell.

Ever have problems with the Howes gellin'? I know several guys up here that run it exclusively but they started gellin' after the switch to ULSD. Seems to me that anecdotaly it dosen't work as well with the new brew of fuel.

I've never had a problem with it gelling, course I run it year around. Our stations here make the switch in Sept. so if it chills down before you burn that last tank out it will gell up. I did that this year, since I drive a work truck home, I haden't driven my POV. So first day off I fired her up, ran 5 seconds an died. Threw in some howes an 911, changed filter, filled up housing with howes/#1 mix, put it together an fired her up an ran fine. Thankfully it was 20 above.

Your right about kero being a bit drier, heck I don't know if you can even buy it here, but for S's an G's its basiclly the same.

Regular.....

......unleaded old boat gas has worked for myself. Just make it about 12:1 mixture (10 oz/gal) and it will take right off and it's far from a dry fuel. Beats the heck out of using starting fluid. I've spent some time down at McMurdo (very very cold) and they use it all the time on the equipment.

If it's not too extreme I've been using the Stanadyne performance formula for years. Buy it in 5 gal buckets and it's a pretty good deal.
