A buddy of mine is wanting a 99 - present f-250 or f-350 crew cab long bed 4x4 single rear wheel body that he can put a cummins in. he needs to find one that is in good shape, but with a blown motor or something so he can get the truck for say less than $8k. Where should he begin to search for something like this? Also, is it best to use a 12valve for a swap like this, or can a 24valve or cr be just as easy and/or successful? another question that we had about the swap is, do you use a dodge tranny or the ford one? Thanks in advance!

 

I can't tell you where to get a good Ford Truck body. But here is a thread that might be helpful. This guy put a CR Cummins in a Ford Excursion that had a V-10 in it. Good reading about lots of various things he went thru to accomplish it. Lots of pics. Very nice rig.

I dont know about you but I got a 99 F250 ext cab with a V10 and a 5spd that I'm converting over to a 12V Cummins.

I should be tearing into it right after I get the engine rebuilt! Waiting for the rods to get reconditioned and then stuff new pistons down the holes (.5mm over bore) and hopfully its down hill from there!

Tons of Gas rigs around here in Ideahooo waiting to be converted!

 

So you just went ahead and got a running v10 truck and then you're going to sell the v10 motor or something? Good luck with your build!

 

yea I'd like to sell the V10, but I have had it on Graislist now for over 2 months and no bites! It still runs after 195K on the clock. I just about have the 12v rebuilt now, so I'm going to pluck the V10 after the 25 of this month.

When I pull the V10 I'll post up some pictures on my build.
