There is a place in Hemet, California and they are supposed to be pretty good with everything from parts to actually doing the conversion themselves for you.

Their name escapes me but I've seen articles featured in the diesel magazines about their conversions and are supposed to be some of the best around when it comes to conversions.

The 48RE is a Dodge Transmission.

It has the same basic exterior dimensions as the 47RE that was available behind the 12 and 24 Valve 5.9L Cummins. The 48 RE just has some upgraded internals.

The 47RE is just an electronically controlled version of the 47RH (hydraulically, non-electronic controlled) which was available behind the earlier 12 Valves.

Build a 47RH with 48RE internals for a stronger transmission that bolts directly to the 12 Valve and has no need for complex electronic controls.

In a perfect world I would do that, the problem I have is that I have a 24v and a built 47re out of a wrecked 2001 to do my conversion with.

Thanks to everyone that answered questions on this thread. I have my Excursion running. Unfortunately right after I got it going I had to go to work out of state, but the 300 or so miles I have on it have been fun. Still have some minor details, but nothing major.

Looks nice. That low mount manifold definitely makes the engine bay look a lot less "busy".

Not sure if that is the final plan on the radiator cap, but I used a cheap Moroso tank in place of the super duty expansion tank.

Gots I really like the way your expansion tank is. I am happy to be rid of the plastic stuff, but I do not like it in radiator hose all that much. I may go to your setup. That is what I love about internet forums. There is always a new trick to learn. That manifold is a BD
RV manifold. I have seen stock type manifolds shrink or crack, so I with the BD one instead of the one DCS sells. Thanks for the compliments
