Do yourself and your driveline a favor and invest in trac bars for the rear.
yeah im back and forth on which ones to buy, or i may have a local race car chassis builder fab some up but i doubt he will be any cheaper than boughton ones. ive made spring clamps and bump blocks. the only thing keeping me from pulling it are the trac bars. as for the weight placement issue my dad used to run a superstock 568 powered 70 elcamino named dirty harry(green and white some guys around here might remember it) which is now owned by some dorks that painted it maroon and its been renamed kings ransome. it was a empty shell with one aluminum seat. no bed floor, no floor at all. no glass except for a lexan windshield and all in the intent of hanging all the weight on the nose we could

as for tires im guessing i should drop the 35's and invest in a set of 33's? my atz's probably have much less bite than a set of 33 truxus or mtzs so im sure i could run them but there not much on traction. especially 2 of em

i wouldnt block the rear unless for sure you will have traction bars!! trust me!
the weight off the springs and being blocked will allow the springs to wrap eisier and the drive shaft will break your t-case. this happened to my 02 and that had much heavier springs than most 3rd gen 3/4 tons.
I hang 500-1500lb over the rear axle, and 200-600 on the nose....but mine is a tractor.

I pulled tractors for 10 years and usually had less than 300 on front. have way less hooks in a truck but im not going to preach weight placement on my tractor. theres not too many 4wd tractors pulling out there.

traction bars would help. I have pulled with smaller bars that I have and one inch travel blocks a few times and never broke anything BUT im not saying you wont break anything my truck did hop some. I for sure plan on big bars here in the next few months im trying to find the best local builder I can. alot of other guys pull with no travel and solid suspension but most of them hang lots of weight on the front also

The way my truck is set up I will be getting off the skinny pedal as soon as hopping occurs so I should be ok as long as I catch it in time right? I dont see traction bars happening this year.

my 02 snapped the output on the tcase just when it was starting to pull hard, no hopping was involved. Its the torque flexing the springs therefor the axle moving forward.

A buddy of mine has been pulling around here for the past couple of years with 1 inch travel blocks and no traction bars and his truck has never hopped once. He has an 01 qcsb 6spd truck. Im not saying that it wont or won't break anything when it does but im just sayin you can get by for a while without them.

It has a great deal to do with track composition we have 3 local tracks here 1 track is very hop inducing even on the pro 4wd class the other 2 are not so bad. I would see what everyone else is running at your local track.

my old truck was around 400hp and the first time i blocked the rear end was the time i broke the t-case.
