Dave Mitchell is also in the same league but is building a new engine this year and has yet to be out so-far.

And all they need is #2 And Water

 

I'm pretty sure they only run #2 but along with that fuel is a crazy amount of water injection. They don't use intercoolers either, I guess with 150+psi of boost an intercooler would just get in the way, hence the extreme amount of water.
Just look in the 2nd issue of diesel power, there are two trucks in there with motors from scheid, a sled puller and a drag racer. Both pretty sweet, the sled puller is actually a ford with a cummins in it.
It just shows you that the smarter ovals know what kind of motors to run when it's time to get serious.

 

PourinDiesel, I agree with seeing that truck in person, that is one bad*** rig. Saw him run at the diesel extravaganza this year. They told me he was running around 1500 hp with over 100 lbs of boost. Gives me an adrenaline rush just hearing him run that thing up when the water injection kicks in, it is truly awesome for a truck like that. Anyone who hasn't seen a truck like this run needs to. It impressed me as much as the pulling tractors do.

Well its gotta be street legal cuz he entered it in to a Street legal Super stock class..

 

pipes out the hood is not street legal has to be behind the cab

 

Scheids truck is not street driven.
There is only one forward gear and one reverse and they are both the same ratio.
Drop box and reverser.

The clutch they are running is 4 disc and weighted.

Also, the truck wont start without ether to help it out and will usually die if left to idle too long. Not to mention running a block heater before the pull to help the engine.

The trucks are often pulled to the start line by John Deere Gators.

That truck is set around 50+/- degrees of advance timing!

Remember, you can see this truck pull at the LACR event on Sep 24 in SoCal.
They are trailering it out from Indiana to Los Angeles!

 

Do any of these truck pull with the NTPA or do the tucks and there own club? I can see tractor pulls quit often around here but don't here much about truck pulls.

 

They pull ATPA, DHRA and unsanctioned events.
