John_P and dperf run the 06's in the 1/4

Well tonight, my friend Bobby Downes (dperf) and me decided to head out to "Coastal Plains Dragway" in Jacksonville, N.C. to run our 2006 Dodge CTD CR Trucks in the 1/4 mile. Since buying my 2006, I have not had a chance to run it down the quarter mile while Bobby did run his at the "Outer Banks Bounty Hunter Diesel Drags" in the 1/8th mile,... he had not had a chance to get his truck on a 1/4 mile track either.

I am very happy to report that Bobby's truck ran a best of 12.10@115.27 MPH on #2 diesel alone!! Bobby, my SINCERE CONGRATULATIONS to you buddy! I am glad I was there to see it happen. IMO,.....with a little more tuning that truck will definitely be in the 11's!!

My 2006 Dodge CTD CR ran a best of 13.2@104.65 which I was very happy with considering I still have stock injectors, stock CP-3, and a stock fuel system. This time is right in line with what my 2002 Dodge CTD 24 valve truck ran with alot more done to it and the 2006 probably outweighs my old 2002 by about 500 pounds if not more.

Wow! Great times. Seems alot of people went to the track last night. I just got back from Memphis Motorsprts Park myself. Track wasn't running it's best, and had a few issues with tq management and top speed limits, but made a run of 12.51@110.2.

streetsmoker:

Congratulations on your times buddy! It is pretty amazing how little you have to do to the CR trucks to get good times.

CIN'S DODGE:

I am not going to get too "radical" on H.P. with the 06'. I need it to tow all our vehicles in case one of the race trucks break.

There is no doubt in my mind that you will get your truck down to those times! You are just like all the rest of us here on this diesel performance; "keep working hard and tuning until you get your truck running like you want it to!"

Hey buddy,

Congrats to you and Bobby! Those are both great numbers! It's amazing what a couple of boxes will do on those CR trucks. I know you've got to be happy for no more than you've done to your 06.

I bet Bobby was smiling from ear to ear after that run. I agree with you, his truck will be in the 11's before long.

Good job!

Thanks Mike!

Yeah, we were both very happy with the times last night. As you know I worked hard to get my 2002 running well and this 06' has hardly any real "upgrades" and it is already running about the same times as the 2002!
I think with a little more "tuning" on the Smarty and the TST that my 06' could actually go a little faster Mike.

I know, I know...I just forgot how much work tweaking these 12v are! I took too long a break between finishing the old truck and starting on the new one!

I should have the fuel, but the governor spring adjustments and other minor tuning issues are giving me fits! Oh well, two more weeks to tune it...hopefully the dyno has some good news tomorrow!
