Intereset in a N.E./NY Dyno Day?
I emailed the dyno shop with a bunch of questions and probing for any interest in whether or not they'd be willing to host diesels. Their site is www.neweraperformance.com and they've actually got A LOT of parking space at/near/around their shop. I would DEFINITELY be interested in getting something going with a local chapter. I've been thinking about that quite a bit in the past few months, actually.
I'm pretty sure there's one diesel performance shop around rochester somewheres, as I keep seeing a truck with a website on it. I hope not though, as I wanted to be the first!

Hahahaha...Well Shawn, I know Niagara Performance in Lockport sells a bunch of Diesel Tuners, and they install it and service it as well. They don't have a Dyno, but in either case.
I've wanted a NY Chapter for a while as well, we'll have to see how much response we get and go from there. It gonna be hard for me to get to any Ontario Chapter events with this new Passport B.S. so a local (NY) chapter would be great. I have a couple buddies just in my town who would be in, and I can get quite a few more in my area as a lot of the diesel guys are at the cruise nights during the summer.
I'm not getting anything with that website, IDK if its just me or the site itself, so I'll take your word for it.

Matt,
Go ahead and get me those width dimensions if you could. I have no doubt a single rear
wheel truck would fit, but the dually's might not. I personally have one of each, so I
can get those numbers as well. I imagine most of the guys would want to do around 3
pulls, and we've got a "rough" count of about a dozen guys so far. I'm right up the road
from you on 31 between Elmgrove and Manitou, so I know right where the shop is. No need
for any specialty tuners actually, as diesel trucks just use chips and fuel plates with
no real "tuning" software such as EFI Live or AEM, etc...
Being that this is a few months away, the numbers may change for attendance.
Thanks again Matt,
Shawn

We have done dyno days for many of our customers in the past. We have
done them for other clubs such as the local VW club and sometimes we
open up sunday nights to do them. They dyno is a Dynojet 224x with
capabilities of up to 1500hp. Id have to check on the torque spec, but
I think it could handle 1500 tq as well. We have dynotuned many GM
trucks, but none have been diesel trucks. We specialize in the late
model corvettes, camaros, firebirds, gtos etc. We have plenty of
parking, but I dont know how many we could get through in one day.
Another thing to remember is we are limited to how wide the trucks are
and I can give you the dimensions of the roller to check that. We are
right off 490, only an hour from Buffalo and Syracuse. Ill run this by
Mike, the owner and see what he thinks, Im sure we can work something
out. Find out for me how many pulls guys want to do, and how many would
want to come so I can price it out.

Subject: dyno day
Hey,
I have a few questions about setting a dyno day up with your company in the spring.
I'm a member of dieseltruckresource.com, which is a site for Dodge Cummins trucks. A
few individuals from NY and the surrounding states are looking to set-up a dyno day in
either Rochester or Buffalo and since I'm from Rochester I volunteered to do a little
research. Is your new facility on Buffalo road capable of providing parking for a few
dozen diesel trucks? Is the shop large enough? If it is, what's your limitations on
how many trucks could attend? Something to keep in mind is that these are going to be
smelly, LOUD, huge black cloud belching trucks. Also, whats the torque limitations on
your dyno? I'm not sure of who may or may not come, but trucks with 1000+ lb/ft of
torque probably wouldn't be uncommon.
Finally, pricing and scheduling are something we need to know about as well. I'll need
pricing per truck, an idea of what weekends you may have free, and if we need a
certain amound of trucks to RSVP to get this set-up and/or any other information
pertaining to this?
Thanks,
Shawn

Looks great Shawn, keep us posted on whats happening with them, it looks like we should definitely be able to get a day setup at one of the dyno shops, I never even thought about how long it would take to run a dozen trucks, but by the time we're done we might have a 2 day event, haha. I'm sure plenty of guys would be willing to have a good 'ol campout.
Any more guys interested?

Blueboy,
Where abouts are you located?
I'm in the Gates/Spencerport area. Maybe we could start a meet or something around here? Know any others in the area?
P.s. fill out your signature with your truck and mods, and your location too!
PM me if you need any help doing that.

Click UserCP which is in white writing towards the top left surrounded in a blue border. Once that opens, on the panel going top to bottom on the left hand side of the screen click Edit Signature. Once you go there, add your truck year, model, transmission, addons, tires, gears if you want, etc...
Any and ALL of the information you have on your truck can be helpful in the future if you ever ask questions.
Say someday you ask what level on your smarty you should run, one may respond with "Well, if you have gauges don't run something that puts your AUTO tranny over 250*F, while if you had an xzillaraider listed they might recommend only run the smarty on timing only since the xzillaraider is fueling only. They'd only be able to recommend what to do based on what you have listed.

I'm still in
Seems like the rule of thumb for duallies is to drop the outside duals and they should fit any dyno just fine. I'd be glad to drop a couple tires for a couple whacks at the rollers!

Just a FYI for you guys. There is a local diesel club, the Upstate Bombers, sponsored by another website. There are members all over the state, Dan Zink is one. We had a dyno day in Syracuse on Labor Day, and will have another one in the spring. We're not limited to Cummins either, we welcome all diesel trucks. There should be a Meet and Eat, Coffee Nite, or something near the end of January or Febuary.
If you'd like more info, PM.
