Looking at the NHRDA I fall under the Super Modified class....not a great class to learn and build confidence I suppose...
So what does a guy need for equipment to get into this sport?

well too start you need your helmet, and neck brace. Then you need your hitch and hook point....i believe the standard is no less then a 3" pintle or clevis. Make sure it is no more than 26" off the ground....and seeing as your super modified.....you need driveshaft hoops or chains, not sure about the rest....but that is the basics.

Rob, it depeds what assoc your pulling in as to what the rules are, the DHRA event i pulled in last Sat doesnt have a class for trucks with street tires with twins so you have to pull against dedicated pulling trucks in the super mod class on pulling tires like Terry Thain and Scott Vorhees and such. United and RMPA have a class for street twins but all Terry or Scott have to do is put on street tires (Terry runs dual in rear) and they are in your class again (***??!!).
ive been pushing for a rule change for street driven trucks to compete in a class with real big singles 3.0+?(2.8?) and twins that dont have custom ladder suspensions and filled blocks and fiberglass body parts to move more wieght forward.

There are people out there who want to pull but dont want to pay $35-$60 to get an *** kicking in front of they're home town crowd because of some rules that dont really apply.

Really, I think I will be a spectator for a while. If anything I think my 12 valve might make a good pulling truck.
One of the issues I see is the US border, for some strange reason they do not like muscular guys like me in the country
