I don't know what a stock Lightning runs because nobody arround here leaves them stock.
One chiped and a pulley change runs 13.60s on motor and with spray 12s.

Last time I checked, a win was still a win regardless of how poor a driver the "other" guy is. Why is it when someone gets on here claiming a victory there is always a detractor saying "oh yea, you only won cause the other guy can't drive, or was unaware of your potential and was caught off guard". That's the whole premise of street racing. One guy who isn't the fastest in the world can "sneek" up on a guy who has all the outward bells and whistles and who looks the part then come away with a win. I'm not into the street racing scene myself, but have many friens and a few family who are and there are definately 2 trains of thought that goes on. With not a whole lot inbetween.

1. Dump all your time, money, and R&D into the drivetrain to go fast and the
outward apperance is only second thought.

OR

2. Put all your resources into the "LOOK" of the car and anything left over
goes into getting better performance

I never said he didn't beat him or did I ever deny beleiving him I just find it very HARD to beleive as I have got the same truck but also with the edge stacked with the bullydog I can take a mustang GT on the highway and from a rolling start but I know I am nowhere near a lighting. Now my brothers truck I could easily see him taking down a lighting. Maybe if I where going down a 40% grade then the extra weight of my truck would beat him or if he decided to take one of his sparkplugs out to make his truck more fuel efficant then yes I can hang with a lighting. But hell maybe his 06 dodge has something more than mine????????

with intake, exhaust, and a 2lb pulley i got it down to 13.3@104

at 7600' elev. my guess is the lightning if bone stock is pulling 14.2-14.3

Hmm, wierd. My buddy ran like a 14.4 here with intake and exhaust. I didn't see the run. He must not have hooked up at all!

I dont know what to tell you guys. I dont think my truck is anything special. That was the first lightning I have been around so I have zero experience with them. The race wasnt at a track so it wasnt timed. I can ask my buddy to set up another race, and I WILL have a video if the guy agrees.

Hey Kman, the main thing you have going against you is the fact you have the 6speed manual tranny. Unlike gas races that have short throw shifters, a long throw 6peed in a CDT can't sustain boost throughout the 1/4mi pull. A diesel with an auto will almost always outrun the same equiped truck with a manual, cause the boost stays constant throughout the run. I will know for sure tomorrow, what I can run in the 1/4mi. cause I'll be going to the AZ state Mopar meet at Speedworld in PHX and do a few timed runs down the strip. No more guessing how far off my Edge monitor is. I'm hoping for and should get sub 14's. especially if the track has good grip.

He said it was a 2000 model and they have a different hp rating than the later model Lightnings. The stock later models run 13.60 to 13.90s at our track but a 2000 will run 14s and at his altitude I'm guessing that year of Lightning to be in the mid to high 14s.

99-00 360hp

01-04 380hp(fastest bone stock time ive heard of is 13.2 @ 103ish)

99-00 still run 13's here at sea level.

im not taking anything away from tuco, thats awesome you hung with him. i really want my dad to chip his 04.5 CTD but he is against extra HP. in my 6spd with close to 500hp i still cant pull on a stock lightning...especially down low. up top i can hang close but not side by side.

I wasn't trying to dog you guys at all, I was simply saying that by all means the lightning should have had the advantage.

I'm not trying to pee on your parade, a win is a win as far as I'm concerened.............I've won a couple strange races myself when I should have easily been beatin!!!

well like I said before I never said you didn't beat him who knows who cares but I will state that my truck will not beat a lighting, I mean I would be right behind him but I would not beat him. As for an auto or manual a friend with an 06 dually auto with the bullydog on extreme I can outrun him with both my bully dog and edge turned up even though I have to row the 6spd. As for 1/4mile times I have no idea by juice monitor is way off. It keeps giving me like 17.8sec at 96mph which adds up to mid 14's so I don't know. A friend of mine has the BD outlook monito and his truck reads 14.2 and I leave him behind every time we race and he has the crazzy larry setting. If you beat the lighting good job but if it's possible I would like to see it or try it again from a dead stop.

Well, I just got back from the track and there was only one Lightning (2002 model) there who had underdrive pullies for better boost, custom burned ECM, intake, exhaust, and slicks. His best time was 13.27@102mph. I raced him quite a few times, and lost by only a truck length each time if I could get a good launch. I never could get a lower 60ft. time 0f 2.11, until the very last run of the day. Then I pulled down a 2.008 60ft. but forgot to disable the saftey defuel backdown on the Edge, and ran a 13.7 I caught him at the line and half way down the track, kept a hood length lead until he started slowly pulling away. Thats when I realized I forgot to deactivate the saftey on the Edge. He wound up pulling a 13.34 that time, and given the fact every other time we ran he never really pulled away like that and always got me at the line as I stayed right behind him, I know I could have pulled down a similiar time.

Officially, my best time of the day stood at 13.62@103mph. on factory size and style tires. So wat do you guys think of that? Not bad for my very 1st time running at the track huh!!!
