Before I got rid of my 6-speed I dyno'd it using 6th gear. You'll load the engine more and get more boost IMO.

Post your numbers when you do it. I had the same combo for a while and have always been curious where I was.

i dynoed in 5th. Because its direct. The dyno operator told me do run in whichever gear was direct. so i did. I never ran it in 6th to see what that would do, wasnt worth the 25 bucks to find out....

your dyno operator is obviously from the gasser world...

you need to run these trucks in the highest gear possible to get the best numbers.

Seems like 6th (or your highest final drive ratio) would give you the most time under max boost.

I bet a bone stock truck wouldn't care much if it was direct or overdrive, though.

You should also pull on the dyno in your direct gear. Which ever is a 1:1 ratio.

fair enough, I was under the impression that your HP would be slightly higher in direct, but torque would be much higher in OD

HP wont be much higher in OD, maybe ~10HP. The TQ will be much higher, 100+. This is from my observations though. Maybe someone else's are diff.

On a load dyno (Mustang, Dyno Dynamics) you want direct 1:1 like in a 6 speed that would be 5th gear.

An inertia dyno (Dyno Jet) you want to use OD...ie 6th gear on a 6 speed or 5th on a 5 speed.
