Dodge Does It Again!!!!!!!

Congrats to whowever was driving a 2nd gen. green 2500 at the Sled Pulls at Newland, NC saturday night.
There were about 8 fords, 2 chevys, and 2 dodges in the event. The dodges came out in first and third! Great showing.
And just as several people mentioned in previous posts about this event there were rumblings of a modified diesel class being started. I wonder if that has something to due with the fact that a ford hasn't taken home a win the first two events of the year?
Some of the requirements I was hearing for the new class are driveshsft loops, a turndown or up on the exhaust, possibly allowing weight boxes and the use of nitrous, which is illegal for some reason.
At any rate I am a firm believer that these changes are a direct result of the additional cummins powered vehicles showing up and taking home the top spots. They might as well call the modified class the Dodge class!

Nice!! Do you know whos truck it was?

Its sort of like that around here:
For the longest time the Powerstrokes were winning all of the pulls and along come the Cummins and they start winning so now the rules are designed to eliminate the Dodges from competition.

I don't know who's it was, I thought someone from this site? Ther were a number of people talking about going and pulling. It was a 2nd gen. 12v green ext cab.
They can try and set the rules however they want, if your creative enough you can find a way around them. I can't wait to get mine finished and get down there pulling too.
There was talk of trying to make a serious Dodge showing for the next one at the end of June, I seriously would like to see that happen. It would really put all those boys out when Dodge owns the top five spots.

Around here there weren't even a diesel class untill long after the Cummins come onto the seen. And until the Duramax, the Cummins won 98% of the diesel class pulls. Powerstroke won the other 2%. Now Powerstroke continues to win maybe 2%, Cummins 60%, and Duramax the other 38% (This is the stock, or street class) While Cummins continues to dominate the top two classes!

How are the rules setup to kill the Cummins competition? Wheel base rules eliminate the crew cab long bed trucks at many pulls. So Dodge gets in while the Ford and GM trucks are eliminated at those.

HDmax,
What I noticed at some of the local pulls is that they did not "fueling boxes/computers" on the trucks but said nothing about how the Fords were "chipped". Now of course their are programmers so that defeats the purpose of that rule.

Another thing I have seen is that some Powerstrokes are aloud to run twin turbos but they would have a cow if a dodge showed up twinned.

Heck at one pull last year they raised the class weight last minute to let one of their buddies trucks pull that weighed 8400 lbs!!

Down here they haven't gotten into rules about wheelbase yet. They do not have a class breakdown subdividing diesels either. This whole post is not about bashing any brand, ford or chevy, just the one or two of the fools who run the event down there. They must work at the local ford plant because they are just as shady towards a chevy or dodge.
They have outlawed nitrous for some reason and it really shocked my because the best running ford out there was totally dependent on using nitrous and propane to run down the dodges and chevys on #2 only. And it showed at the last pull, this certain ford was about 20ft short of the top three trucks.

One more thing if anyone is interested in attending and pulling I wouldn't come June 30th, that is a ntpa national pull and they don't have a diesel class to my knowledge. The next regular pull will not be until July 22nd.

They allowed stock classes to pull after the NTPA pull last year. I should have got somebody to ask if they were going to do the same thing year. It was kinda like a regular pull, with the stock classes going after everybody. Maybe I can make a phone call closer to June 30th and find out from one of the track staff.

Yes, they are partial to fords, but so is 90% of the people that live in that area. I've grown up around there, and at least I fell off that wagon and got into a dodge . The owner of the track also has that blue ford tractor called "Blue Angel"(I think thats the name), so yes, he is partial to fords all the way. BTW:they cant seem to get that tractor running right, they put it on the NTPA circuit last year, and I heard he kinda gave up on it at somepoint.

That ford you're describing using nitrous, propane, and who knows what other kind of drugs is a fella by the last name of Vance. Its an orange dually thats been converted to a single wide rear wheel. For a ford, its decently strong. He lives less than a mile from my house back home. I always wondered how he got away with shooting nitrous and propane on the track, but he did.

I'm glad to hear they are hopefully going to be running a modded diesel class. The nitrous/propane/methanol crap was getting overused by the fords. Hopefully they will get something going for this year, if not start it by next year. One day I'll have my truck right, and they're going to need a different class for my class

I'll try to find out some info on the stock class at the NTPA pull, and we can set something up.

That was me in the black dodge that took third, I had my boxes turned way down because I am still running stock shafts in my tranny. Billet shafts will hopefully going in this week, so the next pull it is on!!

Also, I heard that mark (with the white dually) was having pump problems so that is why he was a no show.

Congrats to you too jemery. Your one of the first 3rd gens. I've seen out there that aren't stock. I am in the exact same boat you are, I will soon be putting a set of twins on my 96, but I have yet to throw some billet in the tranny. It's just so much money if your going to do it right and replace all the faulty parts, input-intermediate-output-and drum. That alone is around is near $3000.
Vance got away with al the drugs until this season, I heard they took the nitrous away due to a duramax running it and grenading the turbo causing shrapnel to exit through the exhaust. I also heard it was because Mark(white dually) was using it and winning almost everytime he showed up.
These are both stories from some of those boys down there who were probly half drunk at the time.
Either way I like the addition of the Dodge, I mean Modified class next year. Things are finally moving east in terms of diesel performance, maybe one day we will have our own Diesel Extravagansa like Sheid puts on.

I've never heard of the duracrappin scrappin the turbo, but who knows. I made it to most of the pulls last year, and unless none of my friends were there for the ones I missed, and they never heard about it either, I doubt it. IDK though. I think the other boys were mad at Mark for winning so much in the dually

One of my friends that was there told me this over AIM just a minute ago: "as far as i know (based on what they said from the stand) that the NTPA will be followed by diesel and then stock gas"

Better be prepared for a late night. I went to the national last year and stayed until about 1am and the big boys were still going. I think they hit some delays because they were talking about calling it and resuming in the morning due to near by residents complaining about the noise that late.
Either way I'm there.

Just like in NASCAR when 426 Hemis took 1, 2, 3, and 5th at Daytona in 1965. NASCAR basically legislated the Hemi out of existence in NASCAR because no one else could beat it.

I keep telling people that my Cummins is truer to the original Hemis than a new Hemi is They don't get it.
