Air shutoff device

Does anyone have a link or information where to get an emergency air shutoff control for a 12V truck.

Some of the area clubs may be requiring these for next year and I'm making a shopping list. Thanks.

Sure every engine on a drilling rig has one, refered to as a Rig Saver (positive air shut-off systems)

Honestly I can't recall the brand name right now, I'll look at work tomorrow.

Roda Deaco positive air shutoff is what Lil Dog is using .He uses his truck in the oil and gas industry,so give him a shout he should be able to help you better than I can .

Bingo Bango thats the one. I'm fairly sure all highway haulers come with them as standard equipment, but I know for sure all oilfield class 8 rigs have one.

The Roda Deaco's work well although they cost a fortune for what they are (like everything in the oilfield I guess).

Ours get installed by the tank manufacturer, so I'm pretty sure they're not standard equipment from the factory.

A new truck slipped through without one about a year ago and no one realized it until it was too late, but thankfully there was an intelligent operator behind the wheel. The inspector told the driver to hit the shutdown so he just shut the truck off with the key. Then he jumped outside, popped the hood and pretended to fool around on the engine (reset it) before starting the truck back up again Close call, we got one shipped out from Edmonton the next day.

Is that in case of a runaway diesel?

Yes, gas leak is always a threat on an active well, but not solely the reason. Most of the tractors I used to work on pulling service equipment run a number or hydraulic pumps off the transmission and/ or power tower. If theres any sort or accident during any phase of work.....the engine need to be killed instantaniously.

So is that like the requirement for a master electrical shutoff switch for gassers on the track?

Sure ya I suppose it serves the same end.............

for instance this is a small coiled tube rig. Theres 7 hydraulic pumps on the tractor, notice all the hose running from the bulkhead plate (that you can't see) behind the sleeper to the trailer. BTW the sleeper is gutted and built as a control room.

this truck mounted Frac pumper, has one on the C15 underhood and 2 on the 3512 thats under the big muffler there. the rigsavers on this particular V12 are engine oil pressure activated, not air pressure..............

I worked with an older guy that had his fingers through the rigsaver (somehow) when he test fired it with the engine off...........He took the rest of the week off

Thanks for the info guys. Now I'll have to see if they are really going to require them or not.

One sled operator saw a diesel take off after a broken hitch. It sparked a bit of controversy to say the least.
