6.7 on 5.9 electronics and fuel system???
thinking of a different truck to set up for street pullin, and found a couple 3500 6.7s on a salvage auction. thinking of a 6.7 with all 5.9 electronics and larger injectors with dual cp3s and a larger turbo-custom 5" exhaust. any thoughts on why this would or could not be a good setup. only things i can think of are camshaft differances-so install performance cam, and if ive heard wright the main diff is a larger bore,so timing differances I wouldnt think would bother anything? I suppose to get a hold of a cummins employee would be good if they'd give you any info. I work with cummins and iveco engines at work. theres also a 6.7 iveco with all the same bosch fuel system. nice super quiet engine very similar. was told at service training that cummins designed it and iveco buils it. any ways I would think a 6.7 with out the emissions junk thats ruining them would make big power??? thanks for any info.
I know the 6.7s have Egr so I don't know what you would have to do there. Also it could take some work to get the 5.9 electronics to work with the 6.7 gauges but I don't know this for sure. If you could get it to work it should be an interesting project.
been there done that, works well, but the rods will only take so much. Also head gasket it weak. Need to change injectors also. If you were to put on a different ECM, i would go 03 early 04. 04.5 and above reqire a different bowel and may cause problems with 6.7 piston. 6.7 piston is designed like 03-early 04.

Ditch the 6.7 harness/electronics and all the egr crap. Swap in pre cr rods, 03-04 injs, harness, ecu, sensors, intake plenum. try and keep the cross tubes, rail and lines cause they are much nicer. I am workin on one right now doin a cross breed.
rods are the same, just moved the pin height up. I ran several turbos. As far as gaskets go you need studs, but you need the custom new age 625 studs. The older studs don't have the same clamping force, 210 k psi vs. 265k psi and 125-130 lbs vs. 155-160 lbs. With extreme abuse this is way i get these gaskets to live. Last 6.7 i built i fireringed it and the gasket head fine til the rod said "see ya", lol.

yah, new stock rods was all i could get, afterwards i found some cunningham billet rods and used them in a 5.9 after. I like the 24V and 12V rods better. They are forged and the common rail rods are the powdered metal, cracked rods.
