I have 99 and in the process of designing and sourcing parts for the truck. I am looking at 64-66 turbo with a 14-16 housing. 200+ injectors, Big injector lines, cam and head work. Plus the accompaning suspension work. Here is my delima, on a few occassion I would need to pull a pontoon or a bass boat. 4500lbs is the max weight I would ever be pulling with this truck once done. I know with the injector lines there is some lope at idle and this truck will not really make power till 2000 rpm with all of the informtion I have been able to gather. My questions would I still be able to tow the boats with this. I know hills and such will requiring shifting and constant wathcing of the guages but will I at least be able to get it going down the road. Also I still plan on staying with the VP for while. Since I will still have the ability to turn the fuel down will that help any to tow?

might be ok with the manual tranny,but its gonna be smokey. you wont want to pull anything heavy.

 

I tow 18k# with the setup in my sig. I have absolutely no problem towing, egts stay below 1250* & smoke is well in control unless I hammer it before spool.
