1 or 2 Stacks For My Pulling Rig???

Just trying to get the public's opinion on what really looks better - 1 or 2 stacks on my pulling rig? I was thinking 2-6" stacks two feet apart that stand about 3 feet above the cab with flappers....just for pulling events?

Willy91 01-06-2008 11:25 AM

flappers 3' over the cab.[yuk] For you're truck I'd do a single 7" miter, just to the right of the rear slider. 2" above the cab.

24valvepuller 01-06-2008 11:25 AM

one 6 in stack the same height as the cab, no flapper

allisfarmer 01-06-2008 11:51 AM

i agree with willy off center looks mean and its simple just a 90 up into the bed

DodgeCTD 01-06-2008 12:15 PM

I would definately have it 2 maybe 3 inches higher than the cab max with no flapper, I'm not a big fan of single stacks, they just don't look right imo.

deereguy07 01-06-2008 01:00 PM

One or two I think they both look good. At a max of 4 or 5 inches above the cab. No flapper. Sorry I jus don't like flappers.

97DodgeRam 01-06-2008 01:54 PM

I would think that either one would look good, especially miter cuts. One stack or two stacks would look pretty mean. The smallest I would go would be 5, maybe 6 inch stacks.

haloman 01-06-2008 02:04 PM

One stack!

one54ton 01-06-2008 03:27 PM

one eight inch out the hood![guitar]

HT3500 01-06-2008 06:16 PM

a pair of black 6" miters or a single 7" maby, But ya know i like to be different...Wes carrier bearing is in just waiting on you...

Floridacracker 01-06-2008 06:22 PM

put side pipes on it 6" turn outs from wheel to wheel

35" 05' 01-06-2008 06:24 PM

1 6" out the hood miter cut!!! NO 3FT OVER THE CAB[yuk] U will get joked unless u win.

duals are for V8's[tapdshut][coffee]

easy you dual guys I just playin:cool:

BBA 01-07-2008 07:01 PM

I second the single I would go 7" though

OneBigDoofus 01-07-2008 10:04 PM

Hey WC,...put a hauler bed on it and stack it. That way I know you'll always be looking out for the flat bed croud at the the sled pull's LOL[coffee]

WCDevillier 01-07-2008 11:48 PM

Hey OBD! Nearly had to do just that, got rear-ended in Austin the weekend before Christmas. Totalled my tow hitch and dented my 6" duals I got under the rear. Took me 3 hrs to put her back together but still have dented pipes.

WCDevillier 01-07-2008 11:52 PM

Why doesn't anyone like flappers anymore...I must just be old school (and old) cause I'm kinda fond of 'em. Well, looks like it's about split on 1 vs 2 stack look....how about 4?? lmao

Ten_Bucks 01-09-2008 02:56 AM

My vote is for a single 6" mitercut at cab height positioned slightly to the right of the slider window. Simple 90 degree bend up into the bed when done that way. Flappers are just plain ugly and that sound they make when banging against the stack is annoying.

1: 7", 2" over cab

1 8''. go big or go home.

Cummins66 01-09-2008 06:39 PM

I like the dual stacks as far as looks go. But if you're pulling with it, you better go with a single, one less split in the pipe to create turbulance. The fewer the bends the better the flow.

turbos10 01-09-2008 10:01 PM

I personally think stacks are silly looking 90 percent of the time....I digress.....

Anyhow, I would run a single 5" straight cut at the cab line out of the hood or in the bed. I just like a clean truck and big stacks belong on big rigs.....

MoPower05 01-10-2008 06:26 AM

Singles on streight 6. Duels on V-8s. How high do you want your smoke to go when pullin? Single 5" just right of back slider will blow the smoke the highest when pulling. The bigger you go the lower it will blow.[laugh]

gunmetal02 01-10-2008 07:30 AM

single 7" flat top and throw a rain cap on it if ya want... don't be scared to be different...

PourinDiesel 01-10-2008 08:55 AM

1 stack.....

Jfaulkner 01-10-2008 11:09 AM

1 stack only, 2 out the hood would just look goofy.[coffee] Those of you with stacks on your street truck should do everyone a favor and run them inside the cab, that way only you get to enjoy them. That way those of us that think stacks are for powerplants can stop laughing at your "Billy Big Rig'r" pick 'em up truck.[whistle]

gunmetal02 01-10-2008 01:20 PM

harh on the stack fella's.. geesh!

smokin95 02-12-2008 09:13 AM

I just put a single 7" miter cut just off center to clear driveshaft and frame. it is at cab level and sounds bad a**!!!!

bighornram 02-12-2008 04:03 PM

On a strictly pullin only truck do it right and run it out the hood if you really got a runner. Otherwise single stack thru the bed. On a street truck / daily driver I'm with Jfaulkner - leave stacks to the real trucks. Nothing I just LOVE to see more than a rusty, worn-out, been run ragged to the end of the earth and back truck with... You got it - Two huge shiny stripper poles sticking out of the bed. I'm sure some people will be offended but around here it seems like 70-80% of diesel pickups have stacks and unless its a really nice custom truck I am personally not a fan. To each his own I guess.

Ok lets see, 5.9 Cummins, inline 6 cylinder, so you gonna do a split exhaust manifold and do duals. Last time i seen them done was on an old Chevy PU, sounded like a ****** off bummblebee, sorry Russell, one 6" stack and see if ya can fill it, if ya can put a flapper on it to keep the rain out. The problem with that is that many pulling associations are following DHRA rules or modeling their own rules after the DHRA rules. Whether its a full on Modified truck or a Work Stock puller according to DHRA:

"Exhaust:
All vehicles must be equipped to direct exhaust upward. The exhaust must exit rearward of the driver's compartment. If the muffler or catalytic converter have been changed from stock, two 3/8 inch diameter bolts must be placed through the exhaust pipe in a cross pattern within one inch of each other as close to the turbo as is practical."

jfaulkner, i guess i dont understand the big deal. Are you driving the trucks? Who cares what other people have on their trucks? I could care less what someone elses truck looks like personally. just my 2 cents

Gary Emerald 05-20-2008 11:50 AM

for a competition rig, definately do a single stack w/ one 90* bend. better performance than restrictive duals

Most pulling associations will not allow a turn out or a flapper. The exhaust has to be straight up, open, and cross bolted. This is for tractors or trucks.

Jason_K 05-20-2008 11:59 AM

If it's not going to be driven on the street then i would definately go with 1 stack through the hood

two 8inch stacks with purple flappers along with 5inch duals with yellow flappers and maybe a 3inch hood stack with a pink flapper

If you run it out the hood most places will make you pull with the trucks that run GOOD lol not the so called street class
