Smog checks

Just wondering if anyone has had to smog a 12 valve yet?

My truck is technically a 98, but the engine tag says it conforms to 97 standards...makes me wonder if I will have to smog it or not?

From what I have read, not the 12 valves. I got my notice for my 06. The place I go to get my gassers smogged is not yet ready to smog diesels. You can find out quite a bit if info here:

Even though 98 was a split year, CA does not care, you will get it next time. Others have already had to smog their 98 12valves.
