Big Rigs Talk about other Cummins powered vehicles here. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be Cummins, but it will be diesel! :)

Tire Cables

It was brought to my attention that the company that I work for is looking into tire cables. Now, I have heard of chains & have put them on before, but cables are a new one on me. They are wanting to put them on both front tires & outside dual of the rear axle. If anyone has any imput of pros & cons of cables, that would be wonderful. Also, any manufacturers that make these cable. Thanks

Portland Fire gave us sets of those a couple years before I retired. I always hung real iron and kept those in one of the compartments in case it got nasty when we were out and were not already chained. Never did use them and they were never on when I came on duty as the other drivers also liked real iron. Part of our first response was very steep in places. It doesn't seem like they would hold up all that well.

They are disposable IMO. Tell the company to stop being cheap and get the real thing.
