adjusting clutch brake in a 13speed
hey all, I posted about what is a clutch brake in a 13 speed, now I think I need to adjust it. It is in a 1972 Brockway 361 with a 8v71N. The brake engages but sometimes you have to work pedal in and out then really squeeze like your trying to push out of floorboard. Maybe this is normal, I just want to make sure. If it needs adjustment, could someone walk me thru it? or if anyone is in the NJ area wanna test drive it to let me know? thanks again everybody.

The only way to adjust it is from the linkages. Not all are adjustable. You need to "lengthen" the throw to engage it. Also check to see if it is worn. They make 2 piece replacement clutch brakes so you can change them out without pulling the tranny. Use an air hammer with a very sharp chisel bit and split the old one off. There are 2 different style 2 piece replacement brakes, get the one that bolts together, DO NOT use the snap together kind.
This is the one that I use. We have had good luck with them.

He said it but not clearly. On your truck you adjust the clutch brake with the pedal adjustment and then adjust the clutch with the ring on the pressure plate. You need a tool, a bar with a 5/8 nut welded to it will turn the ring.
