Question Wabasto???

Hi guys, silly question here. Got the Wabasto in last week. Just curious if they are preset to heat to one temperature or can they go hotter?

The other question I have is, my Wabasto is plumbed in the same as a Espar throught the block and heater core. Now all over the block is very hot after a 2 hour cycle except for the fluid in the rad?? the lower rad hose is cold and the upper rad hose going into the rad is cold at the rad end but hot at the thermostat housing end??? Is that because it doesn't get the thermostat hot enough to open and fully circulate the entire system??

Just was wondering. Thanks guys and sorry for the silly questions.

I seem to remember the heaters heating to 170 deg and with a 190 deg thermostat it will never open.

Mine will heat up to 180F or so. It won't heat the fluid in the rad. Remember, the rad is there to cool 400hp worth of rejected heat. The small heater doesn't put out nearly the heat required to heat up all the fluid. Mine will usually heat up to 170F when I start it, and will drop back down to 150F, but it recovers quite quickly.

7 day timers are exactly the same, both are made by hella. In fact you can use one from either brand to run either heater, the only difference is the diagnostics are wired differently and won't work if you don't match timer to heater.

Lucas1, that w/s dealer is screwing you over. We are selling that heater for around a grand. Work in service in a F/L & W/S dealer in Lloydminster. All these dealers buy the parts via f/l warehouses. I have a webasato on 03 dodge since fall of 06. Only reason its on there over a espar is f/l sells/stocks them.

no i think you miss read it.

$1700 for the webasto air heater and the coolant heater complete kits.
too bad espar couldnt be more compeditive

now iam an espar guy only because ive worked/been trained on them. I do believe they are a better unit BUT not unless you can get a good price.

Espar
$1400 for the D5 kit with 7 day timer external fuel pump and water pump
$1180 for the D5 kit without the 7 day timer.

is your webasto kit complete ie timer ,harness ,etc?

Ok, when I read hydtroinc/airtroinc(spelling), to me thats espar. Webasto calls there interior heater airtop. Thats what confused me, guess thats not bad price for the combo kit. Are you really planning on installed the airtop inside the cab? Where would you mount it? Only reason I have a TSL17 Webasto on my truck, is Webasto is stock in Freightliner warehouses. So f/l dealers get them @ a good price. There as a kinda of throw away unit thou, cant fix alot on them for what a replacement heater costs, plus labour to repair. As replacement unit doesnt come with all the install pieces. But I have been collecting units, got about 3 extras. Warranty doesnt want them back. If I ever need parts, I got spare parts.

This year Espar had some serious production issues, that they are still battling through. Hence the high prices from them, they knew they didn't have enough supply to meet the demand, so they are charging more for the heaters, to stave off some of the normal demand.

On all of these heaters a good install will cure 95% of the problems people have with them.

Luke I know the feeling, I have a brand new espar in a tupperware container just collecting dust. Never seem to have enough time to put it on my own vehicles.

I am not even sure where the pricing settled at this year, as they were still playing with it when I left. I can make some calls later this week and see what I can find out for you.

Wabasto works good!! The Espar has a better install/outlet pattern for a cleaner install. The wabasto is also quieter.
