Very generous of Tate to help many folks out. A great guy!

In fact, we are lucky to have many generous & helpful diesel guys in Alberta.
I recall a thread on ABdiesels.com where Rob (Winkdemon) helped out a 1st gen young guy. It's nice to hear when this happens...

Sounds good Rob. I have to order you a rebuild kit for that HX-40, I have way too many things on the go these days. So where the new shop at? I heard that you had moved.

Can I humbly ask for a hand to up my timing on some future day, Tate?

HG and studs are good to go now for 19*. I remember you mentioned starting my suffer but this isn't really a daily driver so I'm ok with it..
I've been on the lookout for a starter gear to make a barring tool and I've got a drain plug I can drill out for a depth guage holder. Just need a hand on the process.

Next time we get together and it isn't freezing cold out, I can set it for you. I know the 12v and 24v are different animals, but I have my dually set to 23 degrees and it lights up like nothing. Way better than my 12v, which is odd. I thought my timing had slipped after I set it because it starts so good, but the timing light confirmed it at 23.

Yep, heads been done.

It starts retardedly easy at 23. I think it cleans up a bit better at higher rpm, but I haven't really gotten to rag on it too much, my dad was bombing around in it while he was home, and now its snowy out.

When I first increased the timing and took it for a test drive, once I hit about 30 psi I would get a loud 'woosh' sound out of the exhaust. Happened a couple times on that drive. Took it to Rob's when we did his timing, rolled into the throttle, had it to around 45 psi and no noise. Not sure what it was. Once it warms up, I'll have to take it for a couple runs and see if it does it again. I'll do it in the day so I can see if my smoke is going down.

Tate, whats you're peak boost so far? Has egt's changed any? How does it work at higher rpm's? Thats sounds like a fun afternoon outting. I thought I saw the dually out on a spin the other day in town. It kinda stands out with the stacks and low to the ground like it is.

No idea about the EGT's, that hasn't been where my focus has been. Boost peaks at 45 in 4th, I can get 50 in 5th. Tops out at 3700 rpm in 4th gear. Time to tighten the springs to get some more revs out of it. Although with the new weather, I think that might have to wait till spring.
