Third Genner 'looky'

Hey guys as stated in an earlier thread i have pulled the trigger on a 2007 Mega 4x4 3500 DRW with the 5.9 auto SLT 32000KM.Just want to know what i should be looking for when i check it over----any suggestions???????????I know my second genner inside and out but havent really paid much attention to the third genner forums until 2-3 days ago-----THANKS "DTR" LOTS OF READING.They are picking me up at the airport in it out in Vancouver and about a 50km drive back to the dealer---nice and hot/up to running temps to check for leaks/tranny shift ect.Final price "out the door" with warranty was $39888.95 with a 2 year warranty,if the 25 pics i have of her are any indication it looks like its in excellent condition but a final inspection will seal the deal----"Suggestions PLEASE"Cheers---David

Just listen for weird sounds, make sure the tranny is tight,, no oil leaks,, there isnt too mutch to watch for,, there are certain weeknesses that you will need to address, but nothing that would stop a person from the purchase

You need JHansens DTC tool to take with you!.. Injectors are hard to diagnose, but a pull on the dipstick while its running should help in the blow-by and fuel odor check. Also discolor on the exhaust manifold and turbo may indicate some past uploader stuff being used, and by discolor I mean that deep bluish discolor not the normal brownish stuff.

Good Luck!

Oh and 1 other thing, look for velcro on the fuse box.. if there is, it probably had some sort of fueler box on there or a edge

I have no idea if the price is good/bad, thats your call. But your getting the last real hotrod that cummins/dodge made. Kind of the dream truck of 3rd gens. Very easy to modify for great power and not have to worry alot about. Still has warranty, wont lose any sleep on it. Drive it home

I don't think he will have warranty on it as its coming from the USA. Dodge has some real stupid policies on their products which I think is in place only to save more money anywhere they can. Having said that...I had ZERO issues with my 6.7 I bought stateside other then a dealer up here trying to tell me I would have warranty in the USA with it. Nope, tried that too. Big red text across the screen...UP here it said; NO WARRANTY IMPORTED VEHICLE
DOWN there it said; NO WARRANTY EXPORTED VEHICLE

how is it out of country from a dealer in BC?

if its at the dealer, make them run the VIN and hook up the dealer scan tool to look at the code history.

You get the ride home? I bet you wont have any probs. The mileage is too low to have any really issues. You'll enjoy the newer truck. You'll have to bring it out to one of our mets so we can put some grease finger prints on the paint and drool on it for ya. Nice truck buddy.

What yo doing with the older truck DWeiler?

THankyou for all the tips fellas----2001 old blue is staying put ---to much money into her now to let her go to anyone else---it will be my toy,the MRS wants to be able to drive the new one too so that why i went with the auto this time.Me and the brolaw drove home from Vancouver thought the night,12 hours---just pee breaks, truck is mint, checked everything over for about a 1/2 hour---runs smooth,no leaks, tranny shift firm.Overall i think i scored a "Good Deal IMHO".We hit heavy rain on the "coke"which then turned into snow, highway had about 8 inches, lots of truckers pulled over,a few cars in the ditch,1/2 dozen over turned semi"s too.We pushed through in 4 hi most of the way at 55MPH---20 MPG hand calculated this trip.Six feet of snow at the summit, but the truck never missed a beat---SURE IS QUIET.Running boards and a few cosmetic goodies are on the way soon.Later DW---PS some pics before it came home to Alberta

Good stuff buddy. Don't let mummy get too comfortable in it. She it will become her truck. Nothing wrong with that, but you don't want to start fighting over who gets to drive the new toy.

I miss driving back from the coast. I've done that a few times. Hopefully I get to go there this spring with my rig. Its always an experience and something is different each time. Either its mud slides, snow slides, traffic issues, accidents, police, so and so...
