Batten down the hatches ladies and gents, the weather watch for southern Alberta just got updated. The latest projections are for 70kmh winds starting tonight and lasting through to Monday. Snow accumulation will be 20cm in the city and 25cm north of the city and east and southeast (where I am). I still remember the St Patrick's Day storm of 1998, I wonder if this is going to turn into one of those. Oh yeah, it is supposed to start out as freezing rain this evening.
I guess I better make sure have gas for the snowlow truck and the generator.

I fully expect to get higher amounts out here than the city. I'm ready, quads full of gas and plow is on, i'll be loading up early monday morning to plow out the parking lot at work.
I'm hoping we get a good dump here, been a while since we've had one. I'm picking Kenny up tomorrow so he can get his new truck, I'm betting he's wishing for a clear highway to head back north.

Well, it got here about 7:45am. So far nothing spectacular, just 40km/h winds and some good snow. I have heard that Hwy 2 is pretty bad north of the city. I have the day off tomorrow so I am lucky enough to not have to leave the house until Tuesday, unless I end up out plowing this afternoon or tomorrow.

Well, power is back after a 3 hour outage. I spent 20 mins digging a path from house to barn to get generator, gassed up generator, dragged it back to house 200ft through snow, ran power cord into house and so on. Had generator running for 5 mins and the power came back.

I thought it was 5 miles through the snow...
....Or was that to get to school...
..I seen something really nice today...A older fellow with a small John Deere tractor and plow...Plowed the entire sidewalk in my area...He did the full block....That was very, very nice of him...

.If they saw quad tracks off the driveway you will get a ticket.Only takes one pi$$y neighbor to wreck it for all.The more i hear about these stories the quicker i want to get to an acreage.-----PS i fired up my dually and ran a few times up and down the Cul D Sac to flatten out the drifts and make some tracks for our neighbors on the road.DW
I thought the roads were in pretty decent shape today. Don't think that the city even had a plow truck out. The deerfoot or stoney trail looked like they weren't touched at all. Once you got out of the city, the roads got a lot better.
I drove my son to go skiing today, so I drove thru most of the bad stuff. There was some limited visibility. Lots of people driving 20-30km's on the hiway (those people should just stay home) that wandered all over the roads. Saw a bunch of semis driving in the middle of all the lanes, with the hazards lights on. I just drove around all those guys.
Not much for snow fall, maybe 10-15cm of snow, I thought we might actually get some snow this time around. Most of the snow accumulation was from wind drifts. Funny thing is I had a few neighbors ask me to use my quad to plow there driveways.
Really liking these goodyear duratracks that I put on the 2010, they worked awesome in the deep snow.
I want to try a set with studs installed just see how much better they are.
