Opinions on a Purchase

I am trying to help my brother decide on buying a truck, here are the 2 we have come down to.

We have looked at the 2006 and it needs some work. Engine seems to run real strong no blow by (checked oil cap test/blow by tube is not dripping).

- Out of Province Inspection
- Ball Joints
- U joints (up front)
-Front and rear main seal
-Brakes
-Then there are some cosmetic things to address as well.

The 07 has info in the add. We have talked to him on the phone and he seems to have taken care of it. We have not been able to have a look at it yet.

Opinions? I know they are both high km trucks but he is okay with that.

they are both nice trucks. there is atleast a grand worth of work in the 06. but if you need the room it doesnt get any bigger then a mega cab. the 07 has most of the common mods, the 06 seems stock, or stock now anyways. you have a better chance of getting a decent history from a private seller then a second hand store, with a small chance that they have mechanics that know what there are talking about. the 06 does have the big bed.
what is the truck goin to be used for? is it for hauling or more for show

The truck will be used as a daily driver. Once and a while it will drag maybe 7-8000ilbs max. He doesnt need the mega right now as most times it is just him driving.

I was thinking the Mega will need about 3000 worth of work by the time it is passed inspection and then to address the cosmetics of the truck it would take another 2-3k as well.

We are leaning towards the 07 as there is good value in having the vehicle history and the 07 does not seem to be as abused. We are trying to arrange a viewing of the 07 but work schedules are tough right now.

Thank you for your input Red
