Doesn't everybody hang out at Cummins? Its just off 50 Ave, on 35th St in the Foothills Ind. park.

I think the plug was about $50 or so, its been a while since I bought one. Worth every penny, IMO.

Just completed my 46th oil change on my 04.5, 460,000 kms! Every single oil change I have used a fleetgaurd stratapore 3894 oil filter. Every single time I get an arm or at least a hand soaking of the blackest oil ever. Maybe I will treat myself to one of those drain valves for my trucks 50th oil change. As for the type of oil, I have used just about every common type. Last couple of years I have been using alot of delo 400 5w40 and Co-op 0-40 synthetic in the winter. And in the summer mostly delo 400 15w40 and UFA 15w40. No motor issues yet. Still have never even set the valves. But I also do notice my truck is very noticeably quieter after an oil change so you where not hearing things, because I experience the same thing! Or we are both crazy!

Yup about $50 for the EZ Drain plug

You also need the drain tube - http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo....ber=EZ-TUBE-DG

Another option - http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo....=HDOP-KIT-22MM

50 for the plug 25 for the hose and you will actually look forward to future oil changes! It also makes it easy to just catch the oil in old jugs as you can just unscrew it and the oil stops, no more pouring from the pan into jugs and making a huge mess everywhere.
Best thing since sliced bread!

Also, if you're looking for a really good motor oil that is decently priced is Co-op DMO-SL http://www.wetaskiwincoop.com/Petrol...ucts/DMOsl.htm

Its a great oil thats a real synthetic. Group IV base stock. I also have that drain plug and its worth every penny after ruining a shirt and pair of pants.

Been using Shell Rotella and now the Rotella T6 for past 5 yrs, with over 130,000 miles (not km) no issues OAs come back with excellent wear and soot values. Tried that Amsoil stuff once... engine sounded like it was going rattle itself apart.
Use the EZ drain, real easy.. with a 6" lift, I just set a 20l pail under the truck and with EZ drain (with shortened hose) I open it up grab a beer or two and come back. Reach waaaay up, R&R the filter (using the "ziplock" bag trick), R&R bypass filter, close off the EZ and top up, with new Rotella T6 and away I go.

btw Rotella T6 has among some other great properties, a pour point below -34 deg C or -30 deg F not the -20 degs as reported.

Where do you get that info from?

Looks to me like the pour point is -20 but that doesnt make much sense for a 5W40 oil. Page 4 of the MSDS: http://www.epc.shell.com/Docs/GSAP_msds_00051969.PDF

Hey Dr.Evil, seems even Shell is contradicting itself...

http://www.shell.com/home/Framework?...t6_detail.html

or

http://www-static.shell.com/static/c...rotella_t6.pdf
(graphs/comparisons easier to read here)

or this...

http://www-static.shell.com/static/c...cants/1-52.pdf
this indicates a pour point of -45 deg C
ps. it does run off the dipstick pretty fast at -40 deg C

either way.. I'll stick with what is working well for me.

as for making sense.. Shell/Dutch.. they wear wooden shoes for pete sake!

Any of you guys running different oil in the power steering? Man did mine howl today. I bet that oil was like tar. Just a FYI, 02 uses power steering fluid. I might have to start check to see. Hate to kill a power steering pump off if you don't have to.

I must be getting close to 10000km on this oil change. I'm scared to see what the oil looks like. Most ever run on my truck. I run the petrocanan duron 5W40 and a cummins filter. Usually I run a wix or NAPA special for filter.

Guess its suppose to start getting cold again.

I'm curious to hear what others are using for PS fluid as well. I fired my 04 up the other morning (-25*C) and my power steering pump was not a happy camper. Its due for a flush/change anyways.

I run Esso/Mobil 0W40 synthetic at 10,000km intervals with a stratapore filter. No issues yet and it cranks over nicely even in the coldest weather that we see around here

Most important my money = I do it my way based on excellent results. $.02

I have to cycle the heater grid three to four times before the truck will even thinking about trying the starter. Also click my emerg brake down one click to turn off the headlights. Helps keep the battery voltage high enough for my fass fuel pump can run.

25K between oil changes, wow. I'm a chicken to even go 10k. I'm curious to see what my 02 engine looks like inside. I'm still the original owner.
