I just remembered you were out of town after reading about the Car show. I want to get a new module, I went and drilled the hole for the vulcan draw straw but noticed after wards that the grommet wont fit right. So now it is on there with some ATV holding it in place. Plus I broke the retunr line so now it is all messed up.

try some bigger size tubing like 5/8, swedgelock stuff would work as well, it just costs more. You could put in a threaded male AN fittings as well into a female fittings. Put in an oring on both sides. Then just get 5/8in fittings instead. Use the original fuel feed line for the fuel return line. I'm sure that the module isn't scrap yet, so don't throw it out. Worst case Vulcan sells a complete unit cheaper with the draw straw mod than dodge sells a new unit.

I tend to just use stuff from work, so I just keep digging until I find something that works. Red Deer should have lots of places for stuff. You know that all I've eaten for the last five days is Mexican food here, as I'm working out in the suburbs here. I would almost kill for a good alberta steak. We had two safety stand downs during this turnaround. One we had to bring out an ambulance to haul a guy into the hospital. Its been awhile since I did a turnaround with 4 accidents during the outage. CRAZY...

Worst accident was from a scaffold fell on a guys leg and cut the leg right thru the coverall, pants right down to the bone.

Ya this has to be the worst turnaround I've been on for awhile. Great guys to work with for the plant, just the main contractor that they hired, lots of green workers. The plant down the street had a big strike on, must had over 100 workers outside with rat/scab posters. Made for a fun morning/even commute.

Tongiht, I did some tequilia tasting. There is way way more tequilia than I thought ever existed. Darn Montreal, I wanted them to win tonight. O well, hopefully the canucks can come thru tomorrow, I must be the only guy here in Chic town thats hoping for the canucks (man I really don't like vancouver)

Hmm so what other mod is done to the fuel cannister to keep it from having a problem below 1/4 tank of fuel.
Truck had no fuel pressure when I hit just under 1/4 tank of fuel. I have the draw stray running into the cannister, I also have the return line plumbed into the supply line so it is returning directly to the cannister.
Kinda panicked when the truck died.

Looking for suggestions on how to fix the 1/4 tank issues I am having with this draw straw install. I have a vulcan draw straw cut into the fuel cannister. It is sitting at the bottom of the fuel cannister.
Not sure what else to do other then just go buy a new OEM set up and run it. This FASS and draw straw seems to have me running out of fuel at thw worse times. I checked all the fittings also to make sure they were tight.

Any help would be greatly appreicated before I support the local dealership.

You could go with the airdog setup. That's what I got to go with my Fass, haven't got it hooked up yet so I am not sure what extra fittings it will need yet.

You must have the fuel tank cannister that includes the in-tank pump?

The trick that Air Dog & others are doing is running the return line from the FASS, Airdog or whatever pump, back into the cannister instead of the fuel tank neck.
Most guys including the Air Dog kit use the original outlet of the fuel tank cannister as the new inlet. There is significant return flow fuel from the aftermarket pump.
A new line or pipe feeds this new inlet line into the cannister itself.
This keeps the newly added fuel cannister outlet, which should be in the bottom of cannister, from going dry when the tank is low on fuel.

The original return line is untouched. It still is connected to the original inlet of the cannister.

Another option is find an original external pump type fuel cannister. This original cannister flows plenty of fuel for all bu the largest FASS or Airdog pumps
without modification & it does not go dry when the tank is low on fuel.

Did you drop the tank when you did the draw straw install? It seems to be a common mistake with the 2nd genners, they will drop the tank and support it in the middle, where the draw straw/canister go. The bottom of the tank bows in the opposite direction, so there is a big gap between the two. When I did my draw straw, I raised the bed and had about a quarter tank left. Took my measurements. I've had my gauge to the empty line without issues.

Check my Airdog install in my sig - no 1/4 tank issues at all.

Festus I was going to do something similar to what you had done, and for the same reasons, always good to have a back up.

It seems even the OEM pump will suck the cannister dry in very short order if fuel is not returned directly to it.
I have my spare cannister now so I have to experment a bit with fuel lines and that.
Thanks very much for the info and keep the shiny side up.

Ant a hemi, Take some pics for us to follow at home buddy?

Next week, I get to do some rear diff swapping on my 02 truck. Lucky for me, I'm bribing Winkdiesel into helping me and using his hoist/tools. I have too many projects on the go and the garage is full...
