Truck is running well finally.
My 2012 was getting horrible milage. Last week I had it brought into the dealership because the tranny is not going into second gear smoothly (no fault found).
While in there the dealership does their hook the scan tool up and scan the ecm.
One hand I am mad because I told them not to scan the truck because everytime they hook electronics up to my past trucks they ended up messing them up.
Turns out they had to perfrom some rapid response, ended up frieing the ECM.
They replaced the ECM, guess what. I went from 600ish km/tank to over 800km. Hmm makes me wonder if they would have done that when I first complained about poor milage if I would have burnt as much fuel as I did.
If you are having poor milage go get the truck flashed.

Better mileage up than down------i get notices every 6 month from Dodge saying my 07 5.9 needs to be updated/re-flashed with the latest/greatest software----never been back to the dealer since i drove it off the lot in B.C used,in Dec 2008.A few years back,Brolaw brought his 03 in for a tranny problem under warranty,fine they fixed it, but now he has the "DO NOT OPEN YOUR DRIVERS DOOR WHEN IN REVERSE HORN ALARM"now---it was not there when he brought it in.Honks just like my 07.

A few years back I had a burnt out light on my seat heater switch in my 03. Took it in to have them replace the switch. As part of the troubleshooting diagnostic they reflashed me.
Now I'm a honker too.
Real annoying thing is that they never did fix the switch. Told me nothing showed up in the diagnostics....
That was my last trip to the dealership.

You can not take your truck in for repair anymore and ask the tech not to scan it. EVERYTHING goes thru the onboard modules now.
The first thing the tech does it scan to see where the problem lies, it could be a bad wire, bad actuator, bad sensor, bad module, the code that comes up tells the tech where to begin. After its scanned THEN you can open the hood and start repairs.
HECK you cann't even do an oil change on many vehicles now without hooking it up to a scanner!
