Can't drive 85

I think I blow out a cob web out of the diesel.Seems that after getting the old girl to 1600,she seemed really hot on the EGT going back to Calgary. At 75 MPH the EGT was at 800 and boost was 14 PSI.Tryed 80 MPH and it was close to 900.On Sunady took a drive to Airdire and the EGT where back to 650 and 9 PSI....The only differnce was Sunday morning the weather was cooler.

Well, having the extra fuel on tap, the DV's, getting the fuel up on the cruising is not so tough to do..

Different weather really affects it. Headwinds and ambeint temp really crank up the heat and boost.

I had to drive home sunday from brooks by the egt guage and not the speedo,my egt's would climb to 1500 pretty quick if you weren't watching.Guess towing the trailer with a 40 mph wind makes for one hot combo! I am looking for an S300 62/14 now

Step by step... It just keeps getting more expensive! I am at the limit as well, but the stocker definitely was not liking the 330 hp mark I had it at either.

Dave, buddy, I have a fresh HX-40 available. We just have to wake up the sweety. Its been awhile since I drive my rig, but I remember pulling 800 to 1000 deg's at hiway speeds. Towing with a cracked head, I was into 1200+. Of course this is running the smallish jammer 4 injectors. It will be interesting to see what my egt's are without the cracked head. When I get some time I'm gonna cut-up the stage 2 head and see where PDR did the porting at. My plasma torch should make short work of it. It will make me feel better anyways.

The service manual that I read today indicated that a crack running from the injector tip to the seat is savagable but a crack that runs from the injector tip and runs thru the seat is not. You have to put in new seats. If you don't crack running into the port/bowls, in theory it should seal-up. I'm also thinking that if you have a crack that deep into the port/bowls, you should have a coolant leak. I'm gonna explore this one some more prior to cutting. I would like to re-use the stage 2 head and work the ports some more. Anybody try using bronze guides in these heads? It would be cool to have a spare o-ring head setting on my bench for those midnight head swapping parties. My girl started today for the first time in a month. I cheaped out and re-used my old connector tube o-rings. I got fuel leaking everywhere so I can't drive yet.

Thats good info to know. I talked to Aaron today, to find out that my head was cracked and no good. Needless to say, I'm not impressed. Not just the fact that it was cracked and no good, but that I had to call them to find out, 2 months after I dropped the friggen thing off! Think they would've called me once they found out about that.

Wheres a good place to pick up some Magna-Flux? I'll just do the NDT myself and talk to the boys in BC.

Peak have a head available for us 24v boys, call Harry, He will give you a sweet deal. Tate, mine might be savageable, maybe. I'll take it into D&W and findout for you. Cummins does offer a recon head, and they have them in stock, but you have to have a good core. I bought a brand new head from PDR and got it o-ringed, no core charge. My neighbor just bought a new engine from Airdrie dodge for $13k plus labor. The engine comes with a 6 month unlimited mileage warranty. Such a deal, not... My neighbor is also springing for a dodge rebuilt tranny as well. He must have too much money. This is just after springing for front/rear diffs and a new front end. I thought my truck was on it last leg.

Your neighbor must have DC shares... Man, the aftermarket is plumb full of better products for the same or better prices than OEM. Unreal..
