At a bit of a crossroads in decision.....
I believe most may be quite aware that I must pull my Quad Commander and send it South to get the upgrades done to run a transducer to solve fuel pressure reading issues. At the same time, I was going to send my XZT to be upgraded to the new XZT+.
I've needed the truck last week and this weekend, so I haven't done all that yet as it would leave an open hole where the old sender would be - without a plug, truck use isn't an option.
Since Thursday, the truck has bucked and / or died about a dozen times including twice today on busy city streets. Most times, wiggling where the XZT plugs into the factory plugs seems to work on getting the truck going again. The last one today was the worst where it just died without bucking first, right after making a corner with what would have been a safe turn into traffic under normal operating conditions.
So, I'm just wondering on sending in the harness as well (there have been other documented issues with the early XZT and harnesses here on the DTR) to get everything looked at and upgraded, or looking at something else to monitor parameters and a downloader, or a BullyDog Triple Dog GT which is a downloader and gauges together, or something.............
Thoughts are appreciated.
Sorry for the long post, but this is getting very frustrating. I realize part of the fun with all this stuff is getting out to swing wrenches in the garage, but I'd rather be driving than playing with the same crap issues over and over.

Yank it all out, and upgrade to something else. Just get a pipe plug to go where the fuel pressure sender is so you can bomb around in the stock truck.
What about a Smarty? There seems to be lots of support for those in the 3rd gen arena.

I would also ditch the XZT and go for the Smarty POD. I have the TNR POD and it's fantastic. Run your Commander for gauges and the Smarty for POWER!!! I'm very happy with Commander and Smarty Festus.

Thanks Jamie - good to see someone running something that works in a 3rd Gen. I do like the Commander for gauges - everything is at the corner of my left eye.
Kevin, you Smarty dealer yet?
Thanks Tate! I just couldn't find anything in my garage to match threads.
Why is it that I kinda figured you guys might be telling me to ditch the XZT module
??
Was that the "Smarty POD" (big one), or the "Jr. POD" that is recommended??

Too bad you weren't looking for one a month ago. I had 2 of them for sale.
I ordered mine right from the DTR and it came to my door in 3 days without any extra charges!!! Bob will treat you sooooo good...
As for the XZT, you will get way more features and combinations with the Smarty, especially the POD....

Is Bob Wagner associated with he DTR, or someone else and it just got drop shipped?? Sorry......I've done no Smarty research previously. Call Bob elsewhere or Lary (Top) in the DTR store?
I guess I gotta get that Commander ripped out and sent away pretty quick too.

I sent Bob a PM.............still waiting to hear back.
I gotta get out in the garage and rip out the Commander to send South as well. The GF might have to be put on hold for a few hours tomorrow night - take some tinkering time for me.

I guess I have to stay with the Commander for gauges for sure and get the transducer upgrade. I received a reply back from BullyDog sales on that new GT gauge - two important facts are it cannot do fuel pressure, and EGT is an option. Here's the exact reply:

No you will not be able to do just timing or just fuel. The tunes are not customizable by the end user. You can use your probe that you have in your PacBrake if it is a K-type pyro and attaches to our PCH box (part of the EGT package you would need) if it is not no worries you will have one pyro come with the optional EGT kit.
The cable that runs from the OBD2 block to the actual GT is a regular HDMI cable, so if the one in the kit is not long enough you can purchase one at a store near you that is long enough.
