Just dragged the AC stuff home from work last week and charged my truck and van up.

The truck had been open since Oct, the van was in an accident two years ago that ruptured the condensor.

Recharged both by pulling a deep vacuum for about an hour, filled with oil and then added the R134. Both seem to be working good so far. May add a bit bit more to the van its got rear heater/ac so it takes quite a bit.

Water in the system only damages the compressor if you don't remove it before charging the system. It doesn't hurt it if its sitting there dormant. Pulling a deep vacuum removes the water from the system and is standard procedure for charging an ac system.

Boo Hoo....Will I had a 50% chance that AC was ok...But to find out,had to spend $131 to find out the compressor is bad...No fault of the shop thats how you test AC systems....Back to open windows....Not going to replace the compressor,a little to expensive and another $131 to recharge...

Something about the high or low side was only getting to 65 lbs which should be 100 lbs...I should of payed attention, but was bummed out that thet said the compressor was bad...I should call the shop and ask them again on how they think the compressor is shot...It does blow cold air but not to the max output...Also something about the clutch always cycling...

If the compressor isn't making enough pressure, it will cycle more and eventually burn out the clutch. The compressor must have a few scored valves in it and is passing. That SUCKS...

Dave, I have an AC compressor from that 94 engine I bought off of Luke. Obviously its been an opened system for some time, but if it works for you, you can have it. Just let me have your old one so I can continue using it for mock up purposes.

Thanks Tate....I don't think there is a way to test a AC compressor before installing it?

Something doesn't made sence here...I just went out to see this compressor recycling. The system has a full charge with the dye.I was told the AC will work but the compressor will cycle because it has a problem.Started the truck, turned on the AC and the clutch doesn't engage??I checked all the line connections and can't see any green dye leaks. The only place I could see dye is at input port to fill the freon into.Again I shorted out the accumalator connector and the compressor fires up....What happened??Did I lose all the AC stuff out of the system??But where,I don't see any green dye at any of the connectors.Did the shop suck all the refigerate out of my system before I left??
