I would like some info on 2009 Dodge truck before I buy

Looking at a 2009 / 3500 quad cab / SRW loaded. I haven't been around the Dodge trucks since I had a 2001. I loved my 01 by the way.

-I heard the new Cummins mill gets lousy mileage....that right? The truck I'm looking at has 3:73 gears.

-How is the auto transmission holding up on these, the one I test drove had 6 speed on the auto shifter.

-How well does the OEM jake brake work?

-Anything weak on these trucks?, like the older ones had lift pump and transmission issues.

Thanks for any and all comments good and bad since I want to learn all I can before I spend a fortune on a darn'd old pick-up.

mileage etc 6.7

I own a 99 with 400 k. and get about 22 to 23 at 65mph flat ground. 17 to 22 highway in general. I sell the new ones in Roseville ca. In driving the 6.7 auto I have gotten 17 to 19+ in the mountains at about 65 and 20 t0 22 on flat ground I80 with automatics and 3.73's. you can't drive them like a hot rod and get mileage in a diesel any more then a gas rig. You go like hell light to light and drive around at 70 t0 80 you deserve to get poor mileage in anything. Also if you add big wide mud tires you will loose several mpg. Overall it might be down a bit but not much and still beats the hell out of a Ford or Chevy. ps. Cruising RPM is only 1600 at 65 mph

The 6 speed and exhaust break work great together and gives 3 to 4 times brake life.
Wish I could get a new one.
