Front End Shimmy

I have a 2016, 3500, 6.7, crew cab long bed with 27,500 on it. I just completed a 2500 mile road trip and had a dangerous experience, the first was north of Las Vegas when at 70 mph I hit a bump or pot hole and the front end shook considerably and only stopped when I applied the brakes and slowed down to around 30 mph. I thought that it was an anomaly until, on the way home yesterday, I had three more experiences with the same thing and each got considerably more violent, the last was taking the on ramp at around 70 mph and hit a couple of pot holes before I could avoid them, it was so violent that everything loose in the cab was thrown around and I almost lost complete control and went over the side of the freeway. It is going to the dealer tomorrow but I wonder if any of you experienced guys have had this problem with your Ram trucks.

Look up Death Wobble. I thought they got that fixed in the newer generations.

The problem was a cracked steering damper covered by warranty.

From: Thanks Don M!
This may not be the problem but have a look at the front shocks.
Friend of mine has a ‘17 and the shocks were loose. Lots of play

Thank you for the tip, I will definitely check them out and replace them with a high dollar after market set. I will also replace the steering damper with a top of the line one in the near future. The dealer also fixed a drag link that was a recall item. I love this truck but am going to keep an extra close eye on the front end after this dangerous experience.
