E-Brake and Stop Lights
Are the stop lights suppose to come on when the Exhaust Brake is on? I ask this because the other day, the wife was following, and I hit the E Brake, and it slowed the truck down like it should, and mine seems to really bring it from 70 to 30 quickly, and hre comment on that is that I needed to be careful because the brake lights never came on yet the truck quickly slowed to a halt. I can see the dangers of that happening with an unaware follower especially when pulling the RV. Makes you go hmm, shouldn't the brake lights be on to alert a following driver, yet if you tap the brake to shine the lights, the e brake drops out. Whata y'all think about this?

I think they shouldn't be following you so close that if you slowdown they rear-end you. On the newer big rigs they have it so the light comes on but many elect to have them off because they just flash like a strobe light and cause more confusion.
Not much control over people following too close. We all deal with that sometimes. I don't think I would like the flashing lights. That sounds like it would not be understood by all who follow. My min thing was if they are suppose to be coming on and are not, I would ant to figure out why, but on a 12 if they are not, I can easily be the one who stays aware of when it may not be best to use it based on other traffic.

The EB coming on at stop light is early indicator of actuator failure. Dealers will scream that turbo is bad but not so. They want a one part fixes all problems with system. It should be a safety recall on these.
I'm not saying it comes on at a stop light, while stopped. I'm talking about brake lights coming on while the Exhaust Brake is in the process of slowing the truck down. FYI. Pulled my RV and boat together last weekend and On My Gosh. I will NEVER own another truck without one of these. Even the wife said she likes it. Coming back we ran into some heavy rain. Especially loved it during that.

Please be careful using the EB when it is raining, especially when pulling a trailer. Not all roads are the same and some will be much more slick than others when it rains. Use caution, even more so on curves and curves on downgrades when it is raining.
First time I experienced rain in Las Vegas on an exit ramp that I've taken multiple times before, as soon as the EB engaged, I found myself drifting around that curve instead...truck dang near perpendicular to the road.

The lights are not supposed to come on until the actual trucks' brakes are applied so no they will never come on when the EB engages.
If someone is following to close just collect for the cost of a new tow ball (that gets stuck in their radiator) when you pull out of it.

Never came close to feeling like anything was gonna slide around anywhere. I'm learning to look before I lift. Where we went on this first trip with this truck was an hour away but practically on the same hwy we live on so almost a complete strait shot there.
