There are 3 versions 850 tq 800 tq 660tq. The 660 version is the manual transmisson. The 800tq is the standard auto, most the trucks you will find on the lot have this transmission. The 850 tq motor you have to get the aisin transmission. This transmission costs a extra $2700

The Cummins engine cost $8,000 more so you are willing to buy a medium duty truck engine at extra cost so why not a medium duty truck transmission?

I agree. A Ram tech on another site posted he's never seen one for anything other than service.

I suspect you'll get your money back (or more) when it's time to sell, just like you re-coup the money you spend on the diesel vs. gas.

(e.g., I paid $28k new for my 2003, sold it 9 years later for $18k. I paid +$4k for the diesel vs. Hemi. Similar trucks with Hemis were selling for $12k when I sold mine- so I picked up a couple of thousand bucks over the Hemi).

Yes, I can pay $2700 and have the tranny I want from the factory, or pay Suncoast $6000 to beef up the 68re where I would want it.

Life is full of choices.

The transmission I want is in a Superduty, A manual mode that works, Ram should look into it!!

I don't think Used rams with the Asian transmission are going to have much of a resale advantage.

Think my 12 with the max tow package is worth a penny more then a truck that doesn't have it. Dealers could care less. Just like key less start, adjustable petals I could go on and on. All that matters is if its a LongHorn, Laramie ,SLT automatic, manual. 4X4. Diesel or Gas

I didn't say anything about dealer trade-in (who does that anyway??). Will definitely matter as a private party sale, to those "in the know". Bet it'll show up as a $3k option (at least) on book value too.

I'm in the know and would definitely order an Aisin if and when I win the lottery.
I ordered this manual because I wasn't going to dump $4500+ into a 48re my year to enable it to hold up.
The Aisin appears to be overbuilt.

So far the Aisin is proving to be "kid proof" not so with the G56. Just saying
